I have all the Barbie DVDs. They are so well done. We have them on hand for family to watch.

I bought this for my daughter for Christmas to go along with the Barbie Dolphin Magic Boat (highly recommend that toy too - you can actually take it in the tub!) and she's watched this at least 20 times since Christmas. I wasn't expecting much for a $9 movie, but I was very impressed with the cgi animation and the engaging storyline. I have to admit that I love it too and find myself randomly singing the catchy pop songs from it at work - "Now's our time, we live in the moment, now's our time, now we've gotta own it.."The story revolves around Ken's marine biologist internship with his boss Marlo; Barbie and her sisters come visit and they tag along with Ken. Marlo gets a hold of a rare green gemstone dolphin and pretends to be helping it when she's really trying to sell it to a sideshow for money. The dolphin's mermaid friend Isla can turn into a human with her necklace charm and befriends Barbie in the process, plus brings along other dolphins. Together they all try to save the dolphins before they are sold. Spoiler: they save them and put Marlo out of business. As always there's lots of girl power with Barbie and working together with her sisters, so it's a nice message too. I've read online that this is the last Barbie made for DVD movie - I sure hope not. I'd love to see more of these cgi animated ones versus the cheesy vintage ones.

My three daughters, ages 9, 7 and 6 love this movie. They generally enjoy Barbie movies but I would say Dolphin Magic and Puppy Chase have been the two standouts thus far. They also seem to like the Barbie 'Mermaid Tale' movie but 'Dolphin Magic' is great in that it also has a mermaid as a main character. The bonus was that I was able to purchase the boat from Dolphin Magic for $20 (online Walmart price was $10 lower than in-store at the time) and Amazon's price was also $20. The boat is built really well, has a translucent panel in the bottom of it so you can see through into the water and the overhead "canopy" on the boat swivels up or collapses down. It was a great deal to be able to pair the boat and movie together for less than $30 and have a substantial birthday gift that they still love and play with regularly two months later. They love playing with the boat in the tub (along with their Barbie mermaids) and I'm sure they will love playing with it in the kiddie pool once summer comes. My 7 year old has already suggested we get a "back-up boat" before this one gets trashed or is no longer available. I would say that the boat seems to be a nice quality and should endure a lot more years of play but we all know how prices skyrocket when a particular you us no longer available on store shelves. So for $20, I think buying a second one to have on hand is great advice. We would definitely be replacing 'Dolphin Magic' if the DVD were to get wrecked as well.

Bought this for my daughter, and my two boys (ages 7 & 8) ended up watching it withher . It's been played many times, and doesn't seem to be getting old yet.

Am I supposed to review the movie or quality of dvd?It’s one of the better Barbie movies in my opinion. And the dvd works great. We’re actually watching it right now.
