It's sandy!
A very very fine sand. Soft and dusty. It's working out well for a south American set up. It does cloud the water, but it's natural and I like it that way. Thanks 😊

So beautiful
The media could not be loaded. I love this sand. It’s a little pricy, but I decided it was worth it since I wanted a darker color for my aquarium. It took quite a while to wash, but it was worth it. I used a pillow case to wash mine, which worked perfectly! Just make sure to rinse it well until it runs mostly clear. The cloudiness in my picture is from adding fritz- the sand settled very quickly!I put it in my axolotl tank since it’s super fine and safe for them. My little guy seems to like walking on it so far. :) I’m very happy I went with this sand!

Worthlessd
It makes the water all dark. Water is cloudy now. Not sand. It's plain dirt. Not worth price needed for aquarium soft turtle. Otherwise would have returned

Perfect for axolotl
Extremely soft sand I got one bag and it was enough to cover the bottom of my 55 gal tank. Worth the price for the safety of my axie. Love the color also

would repurchase, but initial setup is a pain
I'm using this in my musk turtle's tank and have not had any issues. As other reviews said, this sand requires extensive rinsing before it is sufficiently clean to add to your tank. If you do not take the time to properly clean this sand, it can and will clog up filters and discolor your tank. Overall, I am satisfied with the texture and quality of this sand.

Not sure what to think about the sand
I’m not sure if I read the reviews and I usually do before I purchase something but I saw the bag and the price so I purchased it. ( thinking it was a great price for what I need for a new soft shell turtle) Well I read we should always clean the sand and I’m doing that but even though I keep rising the sand over and over I can’t get rid of the color that the water keeps drawing from the same and the foggy-ness is the water and Ive only rents about 2 cups or a little over and I gave up using the water I have for our turtle tank. To save money I’m using tap water, leaving it out for 3 days or longer but I’ve stopped trying to clean the sand with the water and started rising the almost 3 cups of sand with tap water. I still can’t get the murky color out. Not sure when or if it will be ok to put the sand in the tank.Should I keep the turtle out the tank for sand and water to settle? Will I need to let the sand and water settle for the water to become clear? Will it clear up? My filter won’t be here in a few days but I hope the water settles so it doesn’t wear out my new filter?I read this sand is clean without chemicals & etc. Not harmful for the animals it’s intended to use for but more info ( directions ) on the bag would be helpful! I would like to know how many times to rinse the sand or to know about when to indicate when it’s OK to add the sand into the tank! The price was great compared to pet stores but after I finished writing this I’m going to read and review the listing on here because if I don’t find any information I need now than it’s probably best buying the sand from a pet store even if the cost is higher. Again I’m not sure but if I have to rinse off the sand 20x to achieve the water to look clear than it’s best to buy an more expensive sand so you won’t have. I did not realize the color of the sand too. The sand seems great for non aquatic animals.

extremely cloudy water and clogged filter
When I first received the bag I followed what other reviews stated and washed the sand in an old pillow case until the water ran clear-ish (around 30 mins). I added it to my tank, used a syphon to fill it with water gently and let it sit for about 1 day. Then added my filter in + moss balls and a carbon fiber filter, after a day at work the sand seemed to have settled a bit but was still a bit cloudy. Now it’s been a week and a white film has developed around the tank, on decor, and even on my turtle. My BRAND NEW filter was also clogged with sand. I’ve done 3 full water changes and ITS STILL CLOUDY. I really liked the redish color of the sand and was planning on buying more, however I am greatly dissatisfied with the impurities in the sand.

Quality fits the price
My turtle seems to not care either way, between the play sand i hand in there before and now with this product. BUT i have the peace of mind that my little one won't get an impaction from swallowing some. The play sand i bought looked like it was mined from a quarry. It had medium/small course gravely bits in it . The riverbed looks nice, feels even nicer, and was a pain to clean. It was worth the effort for the peace of mind honestly. Use a pillowcase and hose to rinse. It is a lot easier than bending over a bucket. Just chill in a chair and rinse for about a hour or so, swishing the stuff around. The run lff may still be a bit cloudy after, have patience, it's okay because it settles fast in the wnclosure as long as you use a bowl on top of the sand to gently fill the enclosure with water as to not desturb this substrate. (:

Affidabile, studiata, sicura e bella
