Four Classic Films at a Bargain Price
I already had three of these films in my collection and was only really looking for a copy of "My Man Godfrey." However, at this price, it was a no-brainer to grab this 4-DVD set from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The standard size case has two leaves, so each of the four DVD's is housed on its own spindle. (Unlike so many of the TCM collections where all of the DVD's are stacked on the same spindle!) Keeping in mind that each of these films is at least seventy years old, the picture quality is excellent. Here's a breakdown of what you get:"Buck Privates" (1941, 85 min., black & white)This is Abbott and Costello's second feature film ("One Night in the Tropics" was their first) and it is also one of their funniest. This comedy duo made several military-themed movies during World War II and this one features the popular vocal group the Andrews Sisters performing a total of four numbers, including their big hits "I'll Be with You in Apple Blossom Time" and "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B." Also, be watching for future Stooge Shemp Howard.Bonus Materials:"Abbott and Costello Meet Jerry Seinfeld" (46 min.) Jerry Seinfeld hosts a loving tribute to this comedy duo which features home movies, outtakes, and clips from their movies and live TV show. It also includes their "Who's on First" routine in its entirety from their 1945 movie "The Naughty Nineties."Theatrical trailer for "Buck Privates""100 Years of Universal: Restoring the Classics" (9 min.)"100 Years of Universal: The Carl Laemmle Era" (9 min.)"100 Years of Universal: Unforgettable Characters" (8 min.)Subtitles: English, Spanish and French"Duck Soup" (1933, 68 min., black & white)This was the last Marx Brothers film to include Zeppo Marx (and their last for Paramount) and it is arguably their best. The American Film Institute in their list of the "The 100 Funniest Movies of All Time" ranked it No. 5. In addition to the witty banter from Groucho, the film includes the classic "mirror" scene between Groucho and Harpo. Of course, it includes Groucho's favorite foil Margaret Dumont.Bonus Materials:The only bonus material is the original theatrical trailer for the film.Subtitles: English, Spanish and French; there is also the option of hearing the film dubbed in Spanish, but all musical numbers are still in English."Road to Morocco" (1942, 83 min., black & white)Bob Hope and Bing Crosby did seven of these "road" pictures. This one, also featuring Dorothy Lamour, was ranked No. 78 on AFI's list of "100 Funniest Movies of All Time."Bonus Materials:"Bob Hope and the Road to Success" (14 min.) A look back at the comedian's career with film clips and interviews."Command Performances 1945" (5 min.) This is an edited performance of a 1945 recording by the Armed Forces Radio Service who used these filmed programs to show to the troops.Sing-Along "The Road to Morocco" (2:09 min.) Lyrics at the bottom of the screen allow you to sing along with Hope and Crosby on the title song.Photo Gallery - This is a 3-minute gallery of photos related to the film.Theatrical Trailer (2 min.)Subtitles: English, Spanish and French"My Man Godfrey" (1936, 94 min., black & white)This romantic comedy earned William Powell and Carole Lombard Oscar nominations for Best Actor and Best Actress. AFI ranked this film No. 44 on the list of "100 Funniest Movies of All Time."Bonus Materials:"100 Years of Universal: The Carl Laemmle Era" (9 min.) - This is the same documentary short as contained on the "Buck Privates" DVD."100 Years of Universal: The Lew Wasserman Era" (9 min.)Subtitles: English, Spanish and FrenchIf you are a fan of classic movies, you can't go wrong with this "Classic Comedy" collection--and you simply can't beat the price. My advice? Grab a copy before it goes out of print. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Amusing quartet of 30s/40s movies
Interesting quartet of 30s/40s movies. Some of the humor seems a bit dated, but you can see what was funny back then. My Man Godfrey stands out as the best of the lot as a social satire with excellent acting.

waiter theres a fat man in my soup.
purchased new arrived new. as vhs replacement. got it for buck privates and duck soup. instead of buying them separate. the other two movies were poor combination choices for the pack. 4 one sided discs. it was cheaper this way. so I received two extra movies. both are the original b/w. recorded from the films. they are not re-mastered. clean entertainment from the 30-40's.
