I went to the local shooting range looking for a gun safe for my XDM .40 full size. I found this Bulldog safe there for $85 and new I could find it cheaper online. I purchased it the same day from Amazon Prime for around $35 with free two day shipping. What-a-deal! Although the buttons are loud and the safe is small, I bought it knowing it was going to be that way. I can fit a box of rounds, a clip and my gun in without any problems. I did decide after that if I want more hand guns in the future I would clearly have to buy a bigger safe. It takes 4 batteries and requires a six digit code to enter. I read complaints about the batteries not lasting long so I bought rechargeable Energizer batteries and have had complete success with them. It has been two months and I have not had to recharge my batteries yet. My summary--excellent safe for an excellent price.

Solid, seems pretty secure, easy to set-up, works great. Needs 4 AA batteries, (not included). Be sure to get the serial number off the back before you mount it if you intend to register it.

Weve had this safe for a while now, its AWESOME. Perfect price and does what we need it to do. We hold a springfield 9 mm xdm, paperwork, wallets, and other items in it with room to spare. The pin was easy to set up and hasnt had a failure problem yet. Its also quite heavy and durable.

I purchased this safe to store a single pistol in a house without children. For me, the keypad has been reliable and it has given me piece of mind when friends do bring children into my home. I do use rechargeable batteries in mine, and I swap them out and recharge them every two months or so just to be safe.Quality wise, this vault is good enough to keep people out, or possibly make it annoying enough to keep a stray burglar out if they are pressed for time, but anyone with a crow bar can get in easily.For the price and the little bit of added piece-of-mind, I find this a fantastic safe. For anyone looking for REAL security from burglars or absolutely keeping EVERYONE out, you had better pony up the few hundred dollars and buy a REAL safe.Update 07/26/2016: I have reduced my review from 5 to 3 stars in that this safe failed me when needed the most. We had a late night scare (which thankfully was just an animal) where the safe completely failed me. I managed to enter my code correctly, but the batteries were so low that the mechanics were not able to completely switch over causing the safe to remain locked during crisis mode. I had always assumed there would at least be a low battery warning, but nothing with this safe. At this point I ponied up and purchased a different model that at least has a battery indication. Due to this failure, I would NOT suggest anyone use this for an emergency firearm and stick to documentation or minor valuables where time to hunt down backup keys is not essential.

Good size, I have my S&W Shield .40 w/ 3 mags and a G22 in a Blackhawk SERPA Sport paddle holster with 3 mags. Add a free standing shelf and get even more spare magazines or ammo in there. The door opens and closes fine and I have had no issues with the combination lock either it's also easy to program, so life is good. No, the beeping isn't that loud.

After only 2 years of use, the keypad went bad. From day 1, the battery assembly was very loose and you had to small the door to get it working. Now, I have to make sure not to lose the key. Don't buy this product.... invest in a better brand.

This safe was exactly what I wanted. simple, decent size. I use it to store 1 compact semi ( Glock 19) with 3 mags and 1 box of ammo. fits nicely with plenty of room for more. easy to program, easy to use.

Pros: Good price, compact, has foam inside. Main weight of this is at the front so secure it with provided bolts to prevent tipping but do that after you have installed batteries and set personal code.Cons: Besides the door the rest of the box is quite light weight, I would have liked a more even weight distribution and a thicker metal. Getting the batteries in and out is a PITA. That's why the 4* review.Recommend a decent battery for this, I would not advise rechargeable types for this as they can be tempermental.
