Excellent Sprinker - Excellent price
It feels somewhat ridiculous to be writing a review on the performance of a sprinkler, but this one warrants the effort. Over the past few years, I have purchased approximately 10 sprinklers. This is, by far, the best. To sweeten the pot, it is also the cheapest I have bought. Normally, when I see a sprinker say its range is 50, 60, 70, etc. foot diameter, I immediately discount that range as some theoretical, laboratory-type performance (no wind, perfect water pressure, etc). Without being a total geek and pulling out the tape measure, I can say it has done easily over 75 feet on my front yard, and it does so with a good, strong, evenly distributed spray. The plastic-sled design is heavy enough to keep the sprinker anchored so that the impact mechanism functions flawlessly and accurately. I've purchased 3 or 4 "spike" design impact sprinklers and, invariably, the ground at the base of the sprinkler gets saturated, so the sprinkler wobbles, tips, and the next thing you know, you are watering your trees and not your lawn. I just bought two more before it is no longer available. This one is well worth your money.

Works perfectly…4.5 years later
Great sprinkler. Does what it says it does 3 nights/week, 6 months/year x 4.5 years. I really like the water screen— we have water with lots of sediment. Would buy again.

Owned for 6 weeks, Used 3-5x a week, working Great so far. 4.5/5
Maneuverability: 5/5 - This sprinkler has an excellent range of motion which makes the maneuverability of it top notch. I typically use it in a 180 Degree Fan sweep motion, but I can quickly reposition it and change it's rotation to a full 360, or any other setup I want. Light weight: 4/5 - Dinged one point on this because while the sprinkler is very light weight. While 9 times out of 10 this is an advantage, it does require me to load a small little heavy flat rock on the end of the base. This is because I have noticed the sprinkler will lift itself off of its base if you have it spray to the sides of itself, (or at the ends of the 180 angle for example). Pretty easily remedied by adding a little bit of weight to the base. I've seen others drill a small hole to add a bolt to the center to secure it in, but this works fine for me. Sturdiness: 4/5 - The product feels very sturdy. I have left it outside since purchase and see no wear and tear nor do I assume there is any reason for that in the future. I knocked off 1 star here for the same reason as the "light weight" rating, because I think having to use a rock or other part to secure it could fall under both categories. Overall: 4.5/5 - Overall I love this sprinkler. I purchased mine about 5 weeks ago and have used it 3-5x a week since then. (I've been giving the front and back lawns a lot of TLC before spring/summer this year). I was impressed with how far the sprinkler could reach, and how consistent the spray pattern and water distribution is, both of these are important factors that Amazon should actually include in their rating for the product. It's also very easy to adjust on the fly. You can adjust the height/distance of the sprinkler with the silver plate above the water, which can be pushed into the stream to cut down on its power/distance. There is also a small screw to the right of the sprinkler head which can be turned to impede the stream of water as well, to offer more adjustments. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a simple solution to water a small or medium sized yard, as it works well and requires very little adjustments.

Not sure how some people don't like this sprinkler
I got this a week ago and it is perfect. Very durable! All adjustments are easy and isn't even hard to do while the water is running. Some of the reviews here say that it has problems but there are no issues at all. If you play around with the thing a bit you learn what each adjustment piece does and it is easy. It shoots water very far but that can be controlled with the top metal flap, on the slow clockwise pattern it launches water far but then on the counterclockwise return it gets the stuff closer to it, everything gets watered. There is a tad bit of overspray on the sides but that is inherent in this type of sprinkler's design. When the arm slaps the water to cause it to turn a little tiny bit sprays to the side, it is minimal and really shouldn't be worried about whatsoever. I bought a LOT of sprinklers before this one, this is by far the best one in this price range. Don't let the negative reviews persuade you, this is a great sprinkler.

Fantastic Product
In our hard, compacted clay backyard, I always had to struggle to get spike-style sprinklers in the ground. But we had a lot of ground to cover and the oscillating sprinklers we tried (the kind that you just set on top of the ground) didn't have the reach we needed. We even bought a fancy tripod-style pulsating sprinkler at a local home improvement store that didn't work at all. After looking on Amazon, I found this one for half the cost that we paid for the fancier one and bought it right away. It just works, and works great. I love simply setting it down, and not struggling to get it in the hard ground. It is simple to adjust the spray pattern and has great coverage. I will absolutely buy another one of these the next time we need a sprinkler - would highly recommend.

BUYER BEWARE! TOTAL CRAP!!!
Earlier this summer, I decided that I was tired of buying the cheap sprinklers from Home Depot as they don't last long enough. I went to Amazon and bought two of these sprinklers specifically because they were listed as "heavy duty." I was excited that I was finally buying something that I thought was high quality. (At $20 apiece, I had high expectations.) Boy was I in for a sad surprise. These sprinklers are TOTAL CRAP! With the cheap sprinklers I have bought for years and years from Home Depot, I could easily set the sprinkler at the corner of my lawn at the edge of my driveway and with a few easy adjustments, set it to a pattern that would water from the top of my lawn, all the way to the grass right at the curb. Unless there was a lot of wind that day, I never had an issue with ANY of those cheap sprinklers spraying beyond the line I had set them to. With this piece of TOTAL CRAP however, it spatters water all over me as I adjust it, even though I am several feet behind the sprinkler. It also randomly spatters multiple feet away from where I have set it, so that unless I set it to ignore large portions of my lawn that border the driveway, it ends up spraying my driveway and my car! On top of that, despite the fact that the product details clearly state that it supposedly "Covers a maximum radius of 50 feet or 7850 square feet in a circular shape," I can't get it to spray more than 15 feet! My house is on a corner and it's about 20 feet from my house to the curb at the short side and nearly twice that on the longer side, yet even on the short side, I can't get it to reach the bottom edge of my lawn from top edge, even though it's downhill! (None of the cheap sprinklers I have purchased in the past had this issue. As a matter of fact, I often had to adjust them so they wouldn't spray into the road.) Furthermore, despite the product details stating that it "Adjusts to water anywhere between 30 and a full 360 degrees" it really does not do this! Even if you set the widgets so they are directly on top of each other as they are in the product picture, it still misses the last 10 to 20 degrees! I have been extremely dissatisfied with this product since I purchased it, then tonight, as I used these LOUSY, CRAPPY sprinklers for literally the 7th or 8th time ever, one of them started jamming up! I set it up for roughly an 80 degree pattern, but when I came back 5 minutes later, it was sitting in one position spraying the water in the same spot continuously. I turned it off, moved the parts, couldn't find anything wrong, and then set it up again. This time I came back about 15 minutes later to find it once again stuck in the same position! That's after using it less than 10 times! Now it looks like I am out $40 as I can't even return these pieces of crap! Amazon only lets you return items purchased in the last 30 days! So despite the fact that the listing states "limited lifetime warranty," and that I have only used these things 8 times at the most, Amazon won't even let me contact them to discuss the TOTAL CRAP that they sold me! (There is no 3rd party seller here, these items come directly from Amazon.) Next time I am going back to buying the cheap sprinklers from Home Depot. They may need to be replaced every year or two, but at least they function properly and Home Depot is really cool about exchanging items that break after only a few months of light use!

Melnor Impact Lawn Sprinkler. Purchased 10/6/2016-used very little. Broken/ *UPDATED 07-21-19
I bought this to use on my lawn in NC in the summer. Just pulled it out of the garage to use this week, hooked it up to the hose, and it will not rotate the water flow. I thought maybe it might simply need lubrication - so got some- went to lube it and discovered the piece on the sprinkler that controls the back and forth motion is broken. I was happy to read the Melnor company has a 7 year guarantee on this- so I am hoping they will contact me and replace it. I will say it works well as a sprinkler when it works. It is heavy metal, with brass fittings - that all still look brand new. I am upgrading my review to 5 star due to the excellent customer service from Melnor. They immediately replaced my broken sprinkler after I answered a few questions. Great company- that stands behind their products. I personally have 2 of these now- and will in the future not buy nor recommend any lawn sprinkler other than Melnor! Thank you.

Great product, even better customer service.
I love these pattern sprinklers, but after a couple of years or more the plastic "tracks" tend to crack. I have purchased several brands over the years, purchasing 2 Melnor about 2 1/2 years ago. When the tracks cracked this year I contacted Melnor, not expecting much since they were well out of warranty. Not only did their customer service dept. respond quickly, they replaced both at no charge. Way to back up your product!
