Pragmatic solutions
This is a very useful book. Note, the author does NOT address reattachment of a detached board (cover). This is a complex procedure best left to a pro if the book is valuable enough to warrant it.

After reading what book repair entails, I bought a new copy of my favorite cookbook.
The book was quite helpful in laying out the steps to repairing books, and the materials needed for the repairs. But I quickly realized I could replace one of my favorite cookbooks, The King Arthur Flour 200th Anniversary Cookbook, for far less money on Amazon, and just copy my years of handwritten notes from the old, ragged, stained version to the new.

An amature's opinion
Clearing out and found several books that were my mother's and my grandmothers from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century with loose binding and torn pages that for sentimental reasons I want to save the books - had no idea how without spending tons of money to have the books professionally preserved - not in my pocketbook and so this book is guiding me to some easy fixes that I had no idea how it was done - the fixes are easy to follow with materials listed for each fix...

Very practical
This is an extremely practical, no-frills book about book repair that anyone can use. It contains a list of tools/supplies. The author gives you warnings about when NOT to bother repairing a book (especially if you are a book seller). Then, the author systematically goes through the most common book repair scenarios and, usually, several solutions to each one. If you even have just one good book that needs some cleaning, taping or other repairs, you should definitely look at this book.

a worthwhile book
This is a thin book, but it's information is worthwhile, with on the whole good suggestions for booksellers. I tend to keep repairs to a minimum and the book matched my perspective. It does miss one of the most useful products, silica gel. Silica gel, powdered stuff available at craft stores for drying flowers, is a handy thing for booksellers and collectors. Scattered on shelves or in boxes it prevents silverfish more effectively than anything else. It is also for moisture control, and is widely used by museums, as well as being the packets found with electronics. I have used it in isolation boxes when I have had moistured damaged books.

The grail of book repair.
This book offers several different techniques for each problem. You choose the technique that is most comfortable to you. Not a lot of pages, but I'm more of an action speaks louder than words type of guy. Find the problem, find the solution, and get to work!I also thoroughly enjoyed the supply list. Now I have all the tools, and it's just a matter of experience with the techniques. Book repair, in my opinion, is fun. This book spells it all out. And gets you going. I'll use this book a lot for repairing my personal library. Great and easy to understand.

Book Needs Some Repair Itself
This book has a lot to offer as somewhat of a reference, especially on materials. The book suffers from too few diagrams explaining the repairs and too many undefined words. I know the author must know what these terms mean, but the author should explain them to us. Otherwise, it's time to Google the word so not all is lost.I did find out what "recto" and "verso" are, and that came in handy watching "The Chase" TV quiz show the other night.
