Excellent licorice
PROS: o this stuff is like what you used to get "back in the day" o fresh, soft, chewy with great flavorCONS: o noneI bought this for my father as a Christmas gift. Unfortunately, I was not paying close enough attention and did not realize that it was going to come from Finland and not from an Amazon warehouse!!! So it took longer than I anticipated and did not arrive in time for Christmas. Which is the fault of neither the manufacturer nor Amazon, but my own oversight. ANYWAY, it arrived this week and I took it to him today. He, my Mom, my wife, and I all sampled it. My Mom's first comment was., "This tastes like the licorice we used to get when I was a kid" (she is 80). My Dad, who is a bit of a black licorice "snob" declared that it is a toss up between this and an Australian brand that he likes. My wife thought it was excellent. And I, although not particularly a fan of black licorice, found it very tasty. Overall, a big hit with everyone and I am very glad that I took a chance and bought some

If you like licorice, this is one of the very best.
I was a big fan of Switzers bar licorice way back in the day, the 50's and 60's and when it disappeared a long time ago I never really thought to find anything like it again.I saw a review that compared it to Switzers and figured I'd give it a try. Tremendously surprised that it was even better than the candy of my childhood memories. Very fresh, soft and with a stronger flavor, carefully wrapped and packaged. Wish they made a cherry version of this. Licorice is not to everyone's taste but if it is, you won't go wrong with this.

In fact IMO you've found better than Switzer's
If you're looking to find the same taste and suppleness as the Switzer's licorice of old, you can stop right here: you've found it. In fact IMO you've found better than Switzer's, as hard as that may be to believe. This is true licorice: rich, dark, deep flavor with just the right amount of chewiness. Unbelievably great. You may not be able to run to the store anymore for good licorice, but now Finnish licorice can arrive in your mailbox practically overnight and it's really really really good. Civilisation continues unabated.

Awesome!
Licorice lovers have widely varying requirements for what tastes good to them. So reading a review you have to hope your tastes line up with theirs, because it's quite the eclectic selection what candy makers produce under the name 'licorice'.Me? I prefer licorice to be black, 'sweet' (not salty) and definitely not fruit flavored. It has to taste real too. The texture should be soft, but not too soft. No sticking to my teeth. It should be chewy, making satisfying contact with my molars. It can even be a bit clingy, but should easily come free when maneuvered around. After swallowing there should be a lovely bloom of licorice/anise aftertaste, making me crave another bite.Halva's Lakumatto Lakristmatta is that licorice! (Followed a close second by Fazer.) Halva has many licorice shapes, and flavors, but their bar/ridged mat form tasted the best, imho. Seriously yummy.I purchased from the Finnish seller Soposopo. They were lightning swift getting my order in the mail, and while it took a bit to travel from Finland to the USA, the box came quicker than expected and the licorice was excellently packaged to arrive safe and sound.

Very good
This licorice is much different than the sweet candy-like varieties in the US. The first time I tried this one from Finland it tasted so different I had to get used to it; after a couple of pieces, I was hooked!! It's very good & a bit addicting. :) I wish it was available in the USA, but it was worth the wait. It was very well packaged & wrapped. I do recommend trying this licorice.

Not a Switzer
A couple of years ago I ordered licorice bars from Europe and they had the consistency of the old Switzer bars. These were not the same.

Delicious
It was as advertised, I was not able to stop until I ate a whole bar. A very nice tasting licorice, reminding me of the Switzer licorice from my youth!
