I was skeptical it would do the figure 8 successfully. Does perfect. Some say the quality is not good. For the money 💰. Better than expected. I like the way the passenger car lights up.

My little boy loves trains, and I was trying to find something not too expensive since he is only 5 years old. I came across this train, which is reasonably priced and seems to be of good quality. I haven't given it to him yet, as it will be a Christmas gift, but I opened the box and carefully checked all the details on the train. I am genuinely happy with what I saw. The train is better than many others in this price range and includes several great features, such as smoke coming from the top and sides. It also offers different ways to assemble the tracks, which is fantastic. The plastic used feels high quality. I will update this post once we've tested it, but so far, I can confidently say it's one of the best options I found for this price. I think it's a great choice!

This is a great little train! I'm setting up mine as part of a miniature Christmas village, and this train makes the little town come alive. Best results are when the lights are dimmed. The engine has a bright light in front, rings bells, & whistles [on its own], steam comes out, the engine sounds are perfect and realistic. The passenger car even lights up when you turn it on. I'm in my 60s & my adult daughter helped set it up, which we really enjoyed. The largest setup is seven feet long & three feet wide - it takes up a LOT of space. The directions show you can also form an oval or round track shape, which I didn't think would work with the size of the passenger car and engine, but they have articulated wheels, enabling the train to make the tight corners. I put a square foam piece, about 1 1/2" high under the crossroads, to see if the engine could handle a little hill, and it did. So fun. I do wish there were drawings or instructions for other layouts that work, as well as the overall sizes. Connecting the tracks is simple, and on both sides of the track you need to add the provided caps, to ensure the tracks are together tightly, and are a good addition. However, taking the large layout apart, to attempt to create other shapes/sizes, those little caps all have to come off, and are easy to lose. I think this is a great train for the price, especially a good entry-level train set, without the high-end hobby train costs, to find out if the next level of train systems are worth the fun. This isn't for most kids under eight, to do alone, but it's more fun to play with when two or more are involved, anyway. It requires charging a provided battery via USB, you'll need two AA batteries to supply & install, and the little squeeze bottle that comes with the set is worthless, so I used a small funnel to add the water. I'd also recommend you use distilled water, just in case, because the steam feature is definitely a big part of the fun. [Wish I could buy more track!] Go for it!

My son is obsessed with trains - from Thomas to the holiday trains to really just any train. We took him to the California Railroad Museum and he was in heaven. We went on the Polar Express, and he saw a train around their Christmas tree and has been asking if we can have one around our Christmas tree - enter this train set!It was such a wonderful surprise for him, he loves it! It's more of a decoration in my eyes, but it's turned into a toy for him. I find him putting toys on it, playing with it, trying to put Thomas on the tracks haha. It's easy to put together with the rail connects (or maybe I'm just that experienced with train tracks by now haha). And hooking up the different train cars was a breeze. The combination of the sounds, light, and steam make this an exciting toy/decoration for the little ones. I think this is his favorite Christmas setup by far. I went with an easy route around the tree - but I know that once Christmas is over and we take down the decorations the train will stay and will be a favorite toy for my kiddo.
