Ok, until the end!!!
The book is very typical Gregory Maguire, wordy and often a little tricky to interpret. That being said, I was REALLY looking forward to insight on Elphaba's childhood. I found it all interesting until the part where she attends Shiz. It's like Maguire forgot what he wrote as to how Elphaba got to Shiz. The last few pages really ticked me off. It wasn't like "Here's some insight". It was more like "I want more money Wicked is so hot right now. Surely they won't mind if I change it a bit". If you can get past that part. Read it.

disappointed
Being a big fan of the Wicked literature, I felt this piece was written for the movie / play. For me the book was a disappointment - within the perspective of the original text.

Maguire always interesting
Often we "run" through a reading. With the use of double vowel names like Pari'isi Tomorrow we must stop and sound them out in our head! Genius!. This story is simple and charming. Ellie is real and you like her! I always enjoy Maguire and have read many of his stories.

So excited to add this to my collection. It came well packaged and in great condition.

I still have to read it (haven't the time yet unfortunately). I'm giving 4 stars out of 5 because the cover of the book arrived with some superficial scratch that made me question if it is really new or if it was returned and then resold.

Another great book by Gregory Maguire. It elaborates on the childhood of Elphaba Thropp and to some degree her sister Nessarose. If you've enjoyed Wicked you will like this too.

One of my favourite books. Maguire creates a credible Oz with believable politics, social unrest and cultures. An absolutely remarkable tale, written by a true expert of the written word. I love Elphaba so much, thankyou for doing The Wicked Witch of the West justice and giving her such a personalised tale. Would recommend to all fantasy lovers! Book arrived in perfect condition also and was well packaged.
