Easy game for young toddlers to learn and do & keeps their attention!
This game was bought for my dinosaur loving 3 year old. It is a great, easy to learn and do game for a 3 year old. The pieces are tiny so if you have a child that likes to put everything in their mouths, I would like to warn you prior to purchasing. The pieces are checkable sizes. How the game works: The t-rex sits over a leaf that has baby dinosaur eggs in it. You wind up the game. At each turn you have to lift the leaf and use the alligator tweezers to steal an egg. Each time the leaf is lifter, it clicks. At some point The dinosaur will spring down and "Bite" whoever lifted the leaf. That player got caught and is out of the game. The last person standing wins. :-) we play it to wear the if you get caught you don't get an egg and once the eggs run out who ever has the most wins. It's a very simple game. My 3 year old LOVES it. He will even play by himself. It's very entertaining to him. I am very pleased with this buy.

My son loves this game!
I bought this game for my four year son who is a dinosaur nut! He loves this game! You roll the colored dice then have to lift the leaf and use the tweezers to pick out the matching color egg. Very easy for my son to understand. After several turns the dinosaur randomly snaps down when the leaf is lifted. I didn't put any batteries because I couldn't take one more dinosaur roaring in my house (we have dozens and I swear I hear them in my sleep) so I can't comment on the sound quality. My only complaint is that the leaf doesn't lift very high so it makes it a little difficult to grasp the egg with the tweezers. The tweezers are easy to use (which is also great to help my son with his fine motor skills development) there's just not enough room to twist them to get the egg. It's easier to just use your fingers. Overall though it was a big hit.

Pretty dull.
I bought this for my 5 year old. We played it once and he has not asked to play it again. It didn't grab his attention, there was no sound which i expected it would've had. Unfortunately I'm kinda disappointed! To add, mine didn't even include the tweezers.

Takes no skill to play it. It's pretty much just a toy.
This toy didn't work when it arrived. I had to unscrew the Dino and fix one little thing before it could work (it wasn't that hard, but still a nuisance...).There really is no skill involved in having to play with it, and as a player you have no impact on the outcome of the game. You lift the plastic leaf to grab the "eggs" from the small bowl. The Dino stands over it, and after a certain number of leaf lifts, it launches forward, roars, and opens it's mouth. He does that, and you loose a turn. That's all. The main attraction of the game is not knowing when he will launch forward. It would be much more fun if the players could actually use some skill to play the game, but that's not the case. The suspense is the only fun part of the game and it can be really fun, but it could also be a little scary for smaller kids.

We tried it both ways and the kids said it was just as much fun when it doesn't roar
My son saw this game on a commercial and he really wanted it for his birthday. He loves the game and it really got 5 stars from be when I found out it does take batteries to make the dino roar but you can still completely play the game without him roaring too, now that's a plus! We tried it both ways and the kids said it was just as much fun when it doesn't roar. Its a good game for younger kids but for my 7 year old it got old fast but she still had a blast. Fr my 5 year old it was perfect no reading required and playing the game was simple and easy to follow the instructions.
