These shears easiy and cleanly cut branches up to about 3/8" - larger branches required more effort. I prefer the pass-by blades to the anvil style and these shears did not disappoint. The spring which opens the jaws is robust and appears nearly unbreakable and yet a second replacement spring is included. I wonder why. The hard part will be stowing the replacement spring so that one can find it if/when it is needed.The grips are comfortably coated in a softer plastic material which feels like it will last. A rotating lever easily locks the jaws closed. Unlike some other shears, this lever did not have a tendency to slip into the locked position during use. Finally, they are priced well below many other shears of similar quality which puts them firmly in the "Honey For The Money" club. Time will tell how well they hold up - I will update my review after using them for a few months - but I suspect they will perform well.

Cuts very strong & easily

I’ve been an avid gardener for well over 50 years and I’ve gone through countless pruners in that time, some of them pretty good and others little more than junk. Even the more pricey ones that I’ve owned eventually failed due to some weak link in the design. While browsing Amazon I came across these pruners and was somewhat surprised by the number of positive reviews considering their affordability. I decided to take a chance and try a pair, and I’m so glad that I did. These are probably the most comfortable pruners that I’ve owned, and they’ve performed flawlessly thus far. They’re extremely sharp and easy to use. The locking mechanism - the Achilles heel of many pruners - has worked great and is easy to use with one hand (without being so loose as to lock on its own). While the cutting capacity is not quite as great as some, anything that’s over 1/2” I prefer to cut with a lopper anyway in order to prolong the life of the pruner, so that’s not an issue for me. For the vast majority of my work, these pruners are exactly what I need. As others have mentioned in their reviews, an extra spring is included in the package, which is a really great feature from a customer service perspective. I really don’t expect to lose the spring that’s currently on them - the build is really solid - but over time these springs could conceivably wear out, and it’s great to know that a replacement is ready and waiting. As far as price goes, I got an unbelievable deal due to a sale that was in effect at the time of my order (although the regular price is still extremely reasonable). As a matter of fact, after realizing just how good these are, I ordered a second pair for my wife. I would strongly suggest trying these pruners to anyone looking for quality that won’t break the bank.

These pruners cut large and dead branches better than any others that I have used. They are easy on the hands as well. The extra spring return is nice to have in case the original pops out. Other pruners that I have used bent under strain and I have lost the return spring. These just work great.
