First used the record player when it was purchased, it sounded fine but now any record played on it sounds horrible.

This works as expected: put a record on the turntable, turn it on, put the needle on the record, listen. What you won't know till you get it: - The sound is good. It's obviously not a big stereo with big speakers that are several feet apart, but for small speakers, they do a good job, both in sound quality (for a non-audiophile, anyway), and in volume (it hurt my ears at peak volume standing behind it). The sound isn't distorted at high volume, either. - There's a little on/off switch on the right side of the turntable, right behind the rpm switch. That's not for turning the turntable on/off - that's on the volume dial. This on/off switch is for the auto mode, which starts the turntable as you move the arm over, and shuts it off when the record is done. If you leave it off, the turntable operates normally. - The bluetooth connects easily - just open BT on your phone (or whatever) and "turntable" is right there. You can play your phone's music through the speakers on the turntable. You CAN'T play the record on the turntable through your phone's speakers Anyway, this isn't some super hi-fi setup, but it's decent enough to enjoy your records if you don't have a super hi-fi setup. And if you do have a better system, you can use the RCA plugs on back to plug it in directly to your own gear.

I got this to easily play my albums when I am not near my stereo system.... it does that. The overall quality of the record players is okay... and for the money you're getting what you pay for. Just don't expect top quality. The sound is also okay... definitely not the greatest by any means but the volume control on it works well and can be adjusted to your listening level... as any device in this price level.... you get what you pay for. With that said, I like it! I really do... I can easily take it to the dining or other room in the house and play records for a generation that has no idea what those flat black discs are.... then when he music plays...their eyes get REALLY BIG! That's what I like it for! The need has a nice plastic cover to protect it. The lift arm works well and of course just big enough to fit a 33rpm. The plastic cover is okay... and I will never use it for a Bluetooth speaker (quality just isn't there). So don't have too high of expectations and you'll be fine. The price level is okay... I definitely wouldn't pay the original $80 there were asking but at the time I wrote this it was priced for $48... that's reasonable. If you want something to play your old (or new) albums... this works!
