If my husband hadn't lugged the heavy box this chair came in up flights of stairs and assembled it for me, I'd be returning it. It's comfortable to sit in, BUT, it has several major flaws. The first is, a horrible squeak. The squeak comes solely from the seat cushion, but it squeaks when you sit down and it squeaks with your every move. This is EXACTLY why I replaced my previous chair, and I'm so disappointed to have another chair that squeaks. Second, it barely rocks. I wanted primarily a rocking chair, but it rocks forward and back only a tiny bit. It does swivel nicely from side to side, but that's a function I don't really need. If you think you can rock a baby in this chair, forget it. It hardly rocks, and the squeaking will keep them awake. Third, it is difficult to get it to open up to the reclining position, and even more difficult to retore it to its normal position. There is a latch you pull to make the chair recline, and that does make the footrest extend, but you almost have to fling your body back for the weight to force the back of the chair to recline. When you want to restore it to its normal position, you have to forcibly push the footrest back with your legs. I'm a very strong person and this is very difficult. You have to push it way back till it clicks. It's almost easier to just get out of the chair and do it manually. Do NOT get this chair for a weak or elderly person or they will not be able to put the chair back into normal position. The chair itself is comfortable. But given how poorly the rocking and reclining functions work, I might as well have just bought a stationary easy chair. Like I said, if my husband hadn't worked so hard on this for me, I'd be returning it.
