Decent gouache performance at a very competitive price
I like using gouache for portrait studies and still life work. My usual gouache paints are pretty expensive so I decided to give these a go. They work pretty well, with good opaque coverage and good colour density. I've purchased them for my granddaughter, who is going gcse art.

Reeves quality
Great guash paint set. Has all necessary colours. Guash is in individual tubes so perfect to use. You can use as much or as little as you need. It is fast drying so I do not need to worry about smudging things. As usually, Reeves quality leaves me satisfied.

Lovely colours
Great small selection of water colours that are good to work with. They apply easily and as always by Reeves are good quality. Excellent value for money and I would buy again.

Good Range of Colours
The set comes in plastic inside a card box and they look nicely presented if thinking of gifting. There are a good range of colours and each tube is sealed with a little foil. The colours went on well in my hand-made journal on top of gesso, they dried quite quickly and could be re-activated with water. They dry to a colourful matte finish.I’m not an artist; I use mixed media for art journaling and card making and these are perfectly fine for my purposes but I cannot comment on their professionalism. Just be aware that these are harmful to aquatic life – I know that some gouache are eco-friendly and non-toxic these days, but that’s not the case with these ones.

Very blendable
This set of paints are perfect for hobby artists and students who are looking for good quality paint at a very reasonable price. They are really highly pigmented and the colours are bright and vibrant.Very versatile and they blend really well.I'm really impressed with how rich and smooth they are - they are a delight to paint with.

Perfect For Me!
I'm very much a hobbyist when it comes to painting, so I'm no professional when it comes to the quality of paints, but these paints are working perfectly for me, and I'm very happy with them. There's a great variety of colours included in the set, all of which are very pigmented. They dry down well, and I've not got any critiques.Highly recommend!

The Reeves gouache is exceptional quality 🎨
Reeves have a well established reputation for creating great quality art supplies, and their gouache doesn’t disappoint.Gouache is a French term used to describe a type of watercolour paint. The word is derived from the Italian guazzo which literally means a watering place. Before the 19th century the term guazzo was applied to glue-size painting.Gouache is opaque. The pigments used are ground in water and mixed with gum. The results of using gouache appear quite different from those achieved with washes of watercolour, the look of which is more dependent on the nature of the paper beneath.Professional artists prefer gouache for its versatility. It can mimic the look and feel of acrylic, watercolor, and even oil paints.Among the definite advantages of gouache, is the fact that it is a very convenient and compact material: it does not smell, there is no need for additional solvents, and occasional spots of paint can easily be washed away with water. The only real negative might be that you go through more paint with gouache compared to watercolour, because watercolour is commonly diluted with water to create washes, while gouache is often applied in a thicker, less diluted way, so you use more paint.Gouache is more versatile, it allows you to make more textured strokes. Some may object that if you use watercolour too thick you can make paste-like strokes! But if you apply watercolour too thick (directly from a tube) it dries up in a thick glossy layer and you can really see it on paper. Gouache, on the other hand, allows you to put these dense strokes and it dries without this glossy sheen – but speaking of gouache, you should also remember that if you put too thick a layer of paint, it can later crack.Gouache dries faster than watercolour and is less likely to differ in tone and look paler after drying, as do most watercolour paints. The general rule of gouache is that after drying, dark tones appear lighter and light tones appear darker. This is the first gouache set I have ever bought and is exceptional quality.
