Wear safety gloves!
Very sharp. Ended up in an ER. Please wear safety gloves. Wish there were a couple of very small chisels in the set, but there is still a nice selection for a low price and the are well made. The carry pouch is also well made..

Great Deal if you learn to how to Sharpen
Good Carving tools, handles are nice, metal blades seem secure in the handles. Excellent assortment of tools. The only problem is the blades are honed poorly. It takes a 400 grit stone to get them back in shape. 1000 grit stone will take hours. However I feel it is good to develop your honing skills on a cheaper set than to mess up a top of the line set sharpening. I have sharpened a few of them to razor sharpness and they do keep there edges well. Highly recommend for the beginner. You will have a basic set while collecting the top of the line carving tools. If you are not interested in learning to sharpen your tools pass these up. However you will need to learn to sharpen the tools. Many online sites teach sharpening, The five starts means you get a lot of tools for your money. They certainly are not "top of the line" but when sharpened you could have a good set . Considering the great tools cost upward at 35 dollars a tool.

Great Tools for the Price!
As long as you don't mind sharpening these yourself, I don't think you can beat the price for the variety of tools. They are solid and well made, but all came with relatively poorly ground edges; several gauges required a total reshaping because the angle was totally wrong. Once sharp, they seem to hold their edge well though and overall I am very pleased with this purchase.

Do not buy.
I'll say that I am only keeping this because I've just started wood working and won't pay for a higher quality set until my skills improve (if it's even possible with this set). Factory sharpen is horrid, extremely difficult to sharpen, the flat chisels have a slight warp, quality is lacking. Now I'll have to find a chisel sharpening jig. Half expecting these to snap when I start using them. Heed my warning, otherwise good luck future purchasers.

Great Starter Kit
As a woodcarver/woodworker for decades, I have learned to recognize quality tools when I see them. This chisel set is a gift for a relative who is a beginner. My feeling is that the quality of the tools affect the performance, which in turn allows for satisfying work.

Ok, but there are better alternatives
A decent kit, but be prepared to touch up the edges right out of the package. some edges were rolled and some were just dull! Vut for the money, not a bad buy.

Poor quality
They were as advertised. But the quality leaves quite a bit to be desired. The shanks are only 1/8 (I think... very thin). They are not as nearly as large as they appear to be in the picture; They are small and a little hard to get a good grip on. The shafts don't run the entire length of the wood handle. So I'm not real confident on how much or how long it will withstand continual pounding from a mallet. The wood handles seem to be some type of pine... very lightweight. The MOST disappointing aspect is that the cutting edges are not even straight. I will have to spend a SIGNIFICANT amount of time sharpening, honing and polishing them. IF ... IF I decide to even keep them. I realize they were less than $30, but you at least expect them to have a proper edge on them. Right??!!

Great set!
Bought this to replace my neighbors set since my puppy thought the handles were chew toys and he destroyed them when I borrowed them. Same set she had before and she swore by them.
