This thing is amazing!
I got this because I was tired of having to re-thread my sewing machine just to fill a bobbin. What a treat that it fills the bobbin SO FAST!!! On the machine, I'd start the winding and then do something else while it finished. With this, I don't even have time to pick up something else - its already done! It winds with good tension and reasonably evenly (more evenly than my machine!) - no issues so far. It looks/feels a little on the cheesy side, with what seems like flimsy plastic pieces, but wow! - those pieces work fast! And really, we're just talking about winding thread, for goodness sake - it doesn't need to be super strong, just super functional. And it certainly is that!I use the AC adaptor, and just keep it plugged in. It's a neat little case that closes right up - so it doesn't even get dusty. Definitely a good purchase!

Ease of use
The Bobbin Side Winder unit is a great addition to any seamstress to prepare for a large sewing project. Speec, storage capacity, functional and low noise when using.

This little thing is great.
It saves alot of aggregation in winding bobbins. I had looked at a singer at joanns and almost bought it but so glad I waited, and purchased this one. It does everything I want. Very simple. I've wound 3 bobbins and very pleased.

Bobbin winder
I don't like this item. It winds the thread very loosely. It's messy and bobbins can't be used. I just went back to using the bobbin winder on my machine.

It works
I was in the midst of making a quilt when the bobbin winder portion of my 30+ year old Kenmore sewing machine decided to stop working. I chose the Simplicity bobbin winder because it seemed to have a few more positive ratings than some others which looked more elaborate and cost more. I received the winder very quickly. The instructions are not very good. There seems to be more information printed about safety precautions and interference with electronics and electronics interference with this machine (?), instead of writing clearer instructions. This took some trial and error to figure it out.I used the adaptor and when my first attempt to fill my empty bobbin failed (totally my fault as I didn't push the thread through the eye), I corrected my mistake, but then pushing the on button didn't turn it on. I unplugged the adaptor and then plugged it in and the bobbin began twirling, but I wasn't holding the thread at the beginning, so the bobbin wouldn't fill up. Eventually I got things going and the bobbin was filled, but the automatic stop didn't seem to want to activate, so without an off switch, I unplugged it and installed my bobbin into the sewing machine and continued sewing my quilt. My Simplicity filled bobbin worked fine. When it ran out, I inserted my empty bobbin into the winder and everything went fine, but the automatic stop did not work. I found that I could just take my finger off of the on button to turn it off this time around. Really, I'm OK with that. I unwound the excess and inserted the bobbin into my machine and the filled bobbin worked fine. So, overall, I am happy with my Simplicity bobbin winder, but I suspect better instructions would benefit the customer greatly (at least this customer).

Simplicity electric bobbin winder
Size is fine, it’s compact. I’m kinda disappointed that for 30 bucks it’s cheaply made. As for functional it works is fast, takes some getting used to and the tension is fine. It’s okay, not totally junk

Handy if you love to make bobbins!
I love having matching bobbins for each thread color. Having this separate bobbin winder means I don't have to stop what I am doing on the machine and spin up the right color bobbin. Also, I can make a bunch of bobbins anywhere instead of sitting at the sewing machine. It's very practical if you are into making bobbins.

Make sure the threader is tight
This worked well for me - as soon as I learned to make sure the winder tension was tight (turn it to the right). If you don’t do that the bobbin thread will be too loose. It works very fast. I used a regular spool size of thread. It may not work well with large spools.
