Disney Pixar's Inside Out 2 [DVD]

Riley goes to camp
I love Pixar. I've loved them ever since the first Toy Story. With the very occasional bump. [Good Dinosaur and Lightyear].The best Pixar's for me are those that are wholly original, and leave you coming out the cinema having had an emotional workout that leaves you in one particular mood. A joyful one.The sequels have never quite been on the same level for me as the original ones, since they don't have the originality. I didn't really get blown away or moved by Toy Story three, which seemed to be going over old ground. I wasn't crying at the end either. I was thinking 'don't stretch this out!' [runs for the hills].Cars Three is like Star Trek Nemesis. A film that didn't have the guts to be a franchise ender like it was trying to.The one that did click for me was Monsters University. Which was a prequel yes, but it did have originality. So I was glad when I read the other year that they weren't going to be doing sequels anymore. I think it was after Toy Story four they said that. Thus Inside Out two was a bit of a surprise. But of course I had to see it anyway. This quickly fills you in on the premise and the backstory. It is quite clever with that also. Then we're off and running. Riley and her two best friends are off to hockey camp. Hoping to get a chance at stardom. But then that button that appeared at the end of the first film becomes active. And she has a whole new lot of feelings to contend with. Which might cause her and Joy a lot of problems....Now this is a Pixar sequel that does work for me. Because it did the two things I want from Pixar as mentioned. It is original. Even though it's a sequel. Because it has so many new ideas to throw into the mix, and is really inventive with this. It is also a real emotional workout them as mentioned. Amy Poehler in particular is amazing as Joy, as it does give a lot of character depth. Maya Hawke as superb as ever as anxiety. It's got a really solid story, which does keep you hooked wondering how it will turn out. It's superbly inventive at a couple of points with the animation also. Pushing the boundaries a bit. There's more clever ideas...there's so many great little touches in this it just really works so very well.I got what I wanted from this. And it was a great experience in the process. I highly recommend it.Also stay during the credits. There is some stuff going on right at the start. And a scene at the very end. Neither are essential. But they're well worth seeing. The dvd has the following language and subtitle options:Languages: English. Italian.Subtitles: English. Italian. The disc starts with the usual Disney fast play statement. But there's no trailers. So just click menu and you'll get to it.There are no extras on the disc at all.

Another Emotional roller coaster
is a 2024 American animated coming-of-age film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. The sequel to Inside Out (2015), it was directed by Kelsey Mann (in his feature directorial debut) and produced by Mark Nielsen, from a screenplay written by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein, and a story conceived by Mann and LeFauve. Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, Diane Lane, and Kyle MacLachlan reprise their roles from the first film, with Maya Hawke, Kensington Tallman (replacing Kaitlyn Dias), Liza Lapira (replacing Mindy Kaling), Tony Hale (replacing Bill Hader), Ayo Edebiri, Lilimar, Grace Lu, Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green, Adèle Exarchopoulos, and Paul Walter Hauser joining the cast. The film tells the story of Riley's emotions as they find themselves joined by new emotions that want to take over Riley's head. When Riley reaches her teenage years, a lot more emotions move in and cause her growing pains and loss of self, but Joy and the others band together and get her through. As a Disney sequel and the poor few years from The House of Mouse, this is a highlight but we know the "secret" Riley is hiding.
