Universal Bore Guide with 3 Muzzle Guides for Firearm Cleaning

Used it for the first time today on my Remington 308 and my AR15 really good bore guide*****

Having been a shooter most of my life I must have spent hundreds of hours ramming a cleaning rod into the barrel of my latest rifle, hoping I wasn’t causing too much damage to the chamber in the process. I liked to think I was quite good at it. My latest purchase however, was an expensive precision rifle and I thought I would try a bore guide, hence I ordered the Tipton universal. What a difference! It fitted perfectly into the Tikka T3x and cut the cleaning time in half. I always put at least 20 patches through, more if I am using copper solvent. This keeps all the mess out of the chamber and receiver and stops you having to bounce the jag around the chamber before it feeds into the barrel.A couple of things to bear in mind:This bore guide fitted perfectly into the receiver of the Tikka which in 6.5 Creedmoor. I thought it would also fit my Sako 85 which is .223 but the adjustable collar will not fit into the receiver, just too big. I thought OK I’ll just hold it in place, however I then found the cleaning rod was not long enough to push the jag out of the barrel. Not the end of the world, just a little annoying for a ‘universal’ guide.If you don’t use a bore guide, start using one now, right now! Just make sure it fits.

Never used one of these before and I must say, I’m impressed. It fitted well to the chamber of my .308 and stayed put while I put a rod through it. It certainly seemed to make the process of cleaning quicker and more efficient and I was very pleased not to have to be wiping cleaning fluid out of the chamber one I’d finished. As others have suggested, I wrapped a length of electrical tape around the brass bar to reduce metal to metal contact in the bolt handle slot. I’m not sure this is really necessary but it helps the bar fit more snuggly and stay in place.

Bought this for my dad at his request. As far as I know it works well Tipton is a good brand from what I understand

Good basic bore guide. One word of advice is to cover the metal locking pin in electrical tape or duct tape to prevent it damaging the rifle action when the locking pin is engaged.

I’ll use for my .243, but bought for 17HMR. The tube wouldn’t fit though the bolt aperture on CZ rifle.

Sturdy piece of kit, for a decent price and that arrived on time.
