Good quality ink, works out of the box with HP M283fdw however you lose 'Ink level' reporting.This is a common problem with counterfeit chips, used in replacement toner units such as these. If you can live with that, then this is an excellent value replacement toner. However, you will only know when ink levels are running low once your prints degrade.Possible solutions on Google, YouTube and Reddit suggest downgrading firmware to 20220729. I tried this, on my HP M283fdw, however downgrading did not solve the 'Ink level' problem. Downgrading from a 20241009 firmware, however did open up some new (old) settings removed with the newer firmware. I disabled 'Authentic HP' policies in 'Supply Settings,' but to no avail.The seller does include instructions to 'Factory reset' your printer, however I could not do this -and I am technically savvy. I tried a 'hard reset,' as per a Youtube video, this also did not resolve the 'Ink Level' problem. The option to 'Factory reset' my printer is not available from the HP app nor the menus on the printer panel.For now, I am happy with the quality and colour calibration of the inks from these toners. It is a shame that you can't easily find 'genuine' HP chips in replacement toners, but I understand this is a nuisance created by HP rather than resellers.Do bare in mind, you will not have accurate 'Ink levels' again when going with non-genuine HP 207X toners.
