SNIP Fishing Line Cutter With LED Black

Bought this to go in a small kit for lake fishing and camping near streams. I found it to be excellent in design and easy to use. The light is bright; even if the snips are not locked, they dont take up a great deal of real estate in the box, plus they have a very functional spring return lanyard on the back end opposite the working end. Clips braid like butter!

Bought this in advance of a fishing trip to Canada and it performed well. Cuts mono like it’s not even there, and cuts tough braids with ease. Better than carrying around your old toenail clippers in your tackle box. Attached the clip to my tackle bag and the extension line was pretty convenient.I didn’t mean to but the LED lit version, and while it would be very useful fishing at night or when I get old and the eyes don’t work like they used to, I found that the light button got pushed inadvertently when unlocking the blades with one hand. One-handed use may not be intended, but it’s the most realistic scenario since you’re probably holding your lure or line in the other.

Love it. Saves tons of time when tying or removing baits and rigging. Better than nail clippers and no more frayed braid.Update: The SNIP is perfect for its main intent, cutting small lines including monofilament and especially braid. The LED light is paltry in comparison to standard lights today but again, this is not a flashlight. I have also noticed the screws on the back of the unit are rusting but being as I fish mostly saltwater and the reasonable price of the tool, I'm not concerned with this. I fish often and this has become one of my go-to tools I keep it clipped to my PFD. Cutting off tag ends and toothy critters who's teeth you'd like to avoid is easy with this tool. Get one. You'll love it.

If you fish, you NEED this!!! This is THE best cutter I've ever used. I was fishing with a FL fly fishing guide, Capt. Peter Guldbrandsen, when he handed it to me. I stared at it for a couple of minutes... wasn't sure if it was drug paraphernalia or... I was tying on a bite tippet of 30# Fluoro and it cut like butter. I don't have any need to cut gel spun braid, but reports say it cuts it with similar ease.

Bought this for my Kayak and clip it on my vest. Took it out once and used it, worked great. The second time I used it went to turn on the light and it was not working. I thought I had just left it on from the last time. I got to looking into it and realized the batteries and the cover were not there. If the cover and batteries would stay I would have given it 5 stars. Because of this, it is barely passing.

Functionality of the snip on braided line is tremendous, nothing else I had would cut the braided line cleanly. So why only 4 stars you ask? Well two things: 1. The levers slide back, when closed, in order to secure the shears to close. The levers are shaped in way that your fingers slide back and inadvertently lock the shears closed. So you have to unlock them again if you are not done. Minor annoyance! 2. The little round logo is a peel and stick logo that is curling up on the edges, so it will eventually accumulate grit and fall off. (More of an issue that the manufacturer/distributor need to fix)Would I buy them again? In a heartbeat! Like I said, only thing I have used that cuts braided line cleanly!
