I would like to make them all
I have used many different crochet patterns books and some of them have very complicated patterns but in this book the pattern are easy to follow and it has pictures of final product in different angel taken which helps you with sewing up part. I made the shark from the book but I have already plans for more creatures to make from the book. Will highly recommend

Great patterns
This book has a really nice selection of creatures to make. The patterns appear in both written and diagram/ chart form and are pretty clear to follow. The difficulty level varies from quite easy to rather tricky, so crocheters of various ability levels will find something to make. I have made two so far, the shark and the nautilus; i did not use the brands specified, just various DKs, and they turned out fine - even though the nauilius, which I did first, seems to be the hardest pattern in the book! A great book for toymakers.

but the patterns and guides made perfect sense to me
The media could not be loaded. I bought this book. I have only been crocheting for a year, but the patterns and guides made perfect sense to me. I made the lobster. It was easy, then I made the angler fish which came out great. I especially love the book as it is in crochet. I can't stand working on double pointed or circular needles in knitting, so this book was ace! Eventually I will make them all. It's such a great style of crochet. Amazing.

Experience required but a brilliant set of patterns!
Such unique patterns! The instructions are clear although I’m aware of a mistake or two from other reviews..Experience is definately required - I’m an intermediate crocheter (I’ve made quite a few amigurumi toys) and I’m finding the patterns manageable but I’d never done a picot before, for example (puffer fish, see pics) but it was easy to understand! If you can make toys, this book is definately a goer !!I didn’t bother sourcing the exact yarn- I just used my existing acrylic yarns!

Firstly, I absolutely agree that the octopus should be on the front cover as I've recently finished one and it looks amazing.I thought the written instructions were a little 'laboured' in places and could have been written more clearly for people less experienced than me (I've been crocheting for over 40 years). I thought the charts might be confusing to lesser experienced crocheters - it is absolutely crucial to know when you're supposed to be working on the wrong side or the right side of the octopus or the tentacles won't match on top and bottom. Although it is clear in the written instructions how to proceed and from which side of the work, for clarify for those who're only looking at the charts I think this info should be marked on them. I also found the tension impossible to achieve perfectly even though my tension is always usually spot on. Changing hooks didn't help as they just made it either too wide or not deep enough. I did come to a satisfactory compromise however, with a bit of 'juggling'.There's also an error on page 117 regarding working the eyeball. The instructions state we should start with yarn C (black, for the pupil) and then continue after round 1 in yarn A. Yarn A is red. In fact, the pattern should say yarn B (Ecru). It is the eye socket that is worked in the red, of course. This mistake, if gone unspotted, could waste someone's time and cause frustration.I haven't made anything else yet (puffer fish next!) so can't say if there are any more errors but I do feel that if you are not an experienced crocheter you may want to practice a little on simpler things before attempting some of the advanced stuff in the book. Once you're up to it, it's great fun.

Crocheted sea creatures
I love this book. The patterns are beautiful and the pictures are gorgeous. The book contains both written and diagram instructions which are very clear. Even if you don't crochet it's gorgeous to look at. There are varying levels of patterns. I've only tried the puffer fish but it looks great so far. Highly recommend it. The other books by this author also look good too so may have to purchase another.

Great book
I live by the ocean and just love making these ocean themed designs. It seems to me that the writting style of crochet patterns has been evolving and it took me a bit of practice to get into the groove of this book's style which was written, I think, 10yrs ago. It is still a favourite book on my crochet shelf.
