Read this instead of your textbook
This is well-divided, easy to understand, and goes along great with the Dressler textbook. The explanation of the cases as well as the rule law is very clear. I had trouble determining what the rule of law was from my textbook because there are so any cases in each area of Criminal Procedure. This book highlights the major cases and provides clear explanations of the rule of law and interpretation. Even though I used the Dressler textbook, I still found this supplement extremely helpful and full of new info. You can easily skip certain sections or the public policy discussion. This is a must-have for any criminal procedure class. I read the whole book as review for my test and it was invaluable to me.

Read this before classes start and you'll be golden.
I have no idea how I did on my criminal procedure final but this book makes me FEEL like I at least have a decent understanding of what I am talking about. Criminal procedure is confusing. Besides grappling with the fact that the fourth amendment essentially doesn't exists, you have to explain all of the exceptions that lead to it's essential non-existence (there are a lot) and this book will help you do it. As a bonus, if you're into criminal law, this is actually a really interesting book. It goes into all of the technicalities but it's fascinating.

Couldn’t make it through law school without it
I’ve only been using the book for about three weeks but I love it. I always use the Understanding books as a supplement to my text.

Not as good as the treatise on criminal law but still excellent
Not as good as the treatise on criminal law but still excellent. Its very helpful for the 5th and 6th Amendment materials on confessions and interrogations. The 4th Amendment material is more specific to your professor. If your professor teaches it in a different order than Dressler, you might find Dressler's presentation somewhat confusing. That said, it definitely helped me get an A!

Solid but not a standalone
I initially liked this book very much. It lays out criminal procedure in a very clear and easy to understand manner. The shortcoming of this book is that it does not go into enough detail nor does it help you digest the material (i.e. with hypotheticals). I would suggest reading this about a month or so before your exam and seeing if you need to clear anything else up so that you have ample time to talk to your professor or get another supplement.
