Serpents and Staircases is a cute Harry Potter themed take on the classic Shoots and Ladders. This game was easy to set-up and the unique game-play features were easy to understand and teach to others. We were able to start playing right away, which is always a plus when playing with kids! The moving stair cases made it very fun and challenging to win this game! The game is well-made and will stand up to plenty of use for your little wizards. The board game and pieces are typically sized for a board game and are sturdy. I was able to purchase this during a Prime Days sale, for about $10, which I think is a perfect price, though I'd be willing to buy it again or recommend it at its regular retail value.

He loves Harry Potter and chess and checkers. I love the heavy box it comes in so he can keep all the pieces together. It will get him away from that iPad and actually play a game. I think it will be a hit a Christmas.

I expected just a beginner’s board, but this set has two sides: a beginner side and a master side, both with numbers and letters on the board, which is great for learning and referencing moves. The master side looks clean and elegant, making the set feel more premium than expected. The pieces are sturdy, durable, and perfectly sized, not oversized like some collectible sets. At this price point, it’s hard to beat. The only minor downside is that the board may not be the most durable, but the design is excellent.

Cute gift idea for Harry Potter fans but Amazon put a shipping label on the box. The label ripped off the actual package.

Adorable blanket! My great nephew loved it!

I am very pleased with this purchase. I bought it for my niece for her birthday. She has always loved playing with my daughter’s wizard chess game and my kids always wrote out a “cheat sheet” of rules and how each piece moves for her to use. I liked how each have a the little base with arrows that show how the pieces can move that can come off once she gets the hang of it. This will be a great visual cue to remind her without making her feel dumb by having to check her notes or ask “Which way can this one move again?” The pieces are plastic and are hollow but they don’t feel flimsy. The board is fairly standard. We have owned board games with better thicker ones but again it doesn’t feel cheap or too thin. This is a great beginner set for fans of the Harry Potter world.

Absolutely love this chess set. Pieces are well crafted and have some weight. Board is sturdy enough. Good quality and reasonably priced. Great as a gift. Recommend!

Upon reading review before purchasing, I had fear of missing queen for the chess piece. My fear came true and my black chess pieces had 2 kings instead of 1 king + 1 queen. I do not recommend this for you may get the roulette of disappointment. Maybe I can sew a mini skirt for the second king 🤔🤔🤔

Love this game! Very fun. The moving staircases offer a nice twist to snakes and ladders.
