First item i have ever reviewed. Ever.
These speakers are excellent. I use them in a near field capacity while i work. Hip Hop,Classical, Rock, Jazz, Electronic, Metal, Ambient, Country...all of them sound at home with these speakers. Sound Stage is great, imaging is excellent, like how do they do that excellent. Surprising bass for a 5 inch driver. I love listening to new music again haha. Great Product. If you can afford them, get them. Worth every penny and then another few hundred dollars. I am eager to see how they could improve with break in. Well done Swan!

Good Speakers - Wish they didn't buzz, and had subwoofer output
Update: I am knocking down to 3 stars. The buzzing sound drives me nuts now. Also, I have to pair my phone manually every time I want to listen. I thought I would be ok with the lack of subwoofer output, but these really do need a sub. At the $349 price point shown now they are definitely a better value than the $499 I paid.Let me start off by saying I would actually give these a 4.5 if possible. Reason being is they do have a buzzing sound when no audio is playing. I can't hear it when the music is on, but it is kind of annoying at this price point. I also tried out the Fluance Ai60's, and they buzzed also. Seems to be something inherent to these powered bookshelfs.I am using these on my desk, and they sound incredible. It was a journey getting here though. The first set I received was defective, the replacement set they sent were obviously "open box", so I had to send them back, too. My third set arrived and they are great. I would never have thought such a small driver could provide such full, rich sound. I have the bass knob turned up a bit, and the treble in the middle position. They sound amazing. I will recommend spacing them apart a fair amount. It makes a big difference. I have about 32" between them, and when they were a little closer they still sounded good, but the sound stage really opened up with just a few inches further apart.Very happy with them. I hope they last a really long time.

Bluetooth extremely frustrating
Edit 2/10/20 - I have had these speakers for a year now and have decided not to use them anymore. When they work I enjoy them well enough but that doesn't seem to happen very often anymore. I am using these with a Fluance Turntable and a marantz cd player. Plugged in analog everything sounds decent. If I try to run the CD player through coax or optical it sounds like the tweeter has been blown. I have hooked up three different cd players this way and all have had the problem. The music is un-listenable. Bluetooth is still frustrating to get to work consistently. I've often wondered if I received an overall defective pair from the start. The sound when using my turntable has seemed to get worse and worse over the months. Anyway, I upgraded to a pair of KEF LS50's over the weekend and it's made a world of difference. It's just frustrating to spend $500 on a pair of speakers and feel like they are unusable 12 months in.Original Review -These speakers look great and sound great. I have them hooked up to my turntable/preamp and I have no complaints. The big issue comes when I try and connect any bluetooth device to stream music. Sometimes I can get it to connect after 3-4 attempts, other times I can't get any connection at all. It has been beyond frustrating. I have had these for nearly 2 weeks and was hoping they would be a permanent addition to my listening setup but the bluetooth issue is a deal killer. I've tried unpairing the speakers but now I can't get any device to recognize the speakers again as a bluetooth device. So disappointing.

Sound amazing, except for the buzzing
I wanted to love these speakers so much. Their looks were perfect for my desk and it had the power and connectivity I needed. The first pair arrived DOA, and Amazon replaced them. The 2nd pair had very noticeable buzzing/humming while listening at low volumes, and even at idle or without any inputs connected. I tried plugging them into other outlets around the house, but they never were silent. I returned those and ordered another pair, hoping it was just another bad set, but the 3rd pair still had same issue. They sounded amazing, with good power, nice stereo imaging, and excellent DSP/EQ improvement. But the incessant humming was not acceptable in a living room setup, let alone as a nearfield monitor on a desk as I was using them, so I had to return that pair and look for a different option.

Battle of the mkiii's (Swans vs Edifiers)
This review is for the m200 mkiii+'s. I was struggling to make a decision between these and the Vanatoo t1 encores. I finally decided to just pull the trigger and haven't regretted it one bit. I use these on a pretty small desk and they have fantastic imaging and depth, so much so that I find myself making excuses to just sit down and listen to music again. I have these paired with my modi 3 connected via RCA and out the modi via optical. The noise floor is very low and overall quality of sound is amazing. If you are coming from cheaper powered bookshelves like me (Micca PB42x's) you won't regret the decision to upgrade at all!Edit (After a year of use): I have now used these speakers for the better part of a year and can offer some long term perspective on the purchase. I have stopped using them on my desk due to the idle hissing that they produce and replaced them with the Edifier s2000 mkiii's that just came out a couple months ago. At $100 cheaper than the Swans, the new Edi's perform within the same margin of performance with the added bonus that I can run them 24/7 without them hissing or getting hot. I would still recommend the Swans if you absolutely need the front panel controls though.

I'M SPEECHLESS.....WOW!!!!
As I sit here typing this review I'm listening to these amazing speakers. I've owned everything from Martin Logan, Bowers & Wilkins, PSB & I have not heard anything like these. I currently have them hooked up to my computer using soundblaster ae5. My goodness I'm hearing instruments I didn't hear before. I learn of these speakers watching Z Reviews on YouTube. These are the best pair of speakers I've ever heard. Please keep in mind that my previous speakers were actually hooked up to a high end integrated amp, I'm just using a premium soundcard.
