Decent quality for the money
Purchased this rod as a combo based on the reviews. I have to say the reviews are fairly accurate. The overall build quality is average, but it’s a low cost fly rod so that’s fine. It’s very light weight for a 5 weight. The rod blank does have some slight imperfections but they seem to be mostly cosmetic blemishes that are tough to see but easy to feel. Will update this review if there are and functional issues noticed when I try it out. What I like:The color scheme is very nice, very modern and stylish. It has an uplocking reel seat which I prefer and the rubberized grip is slightly soft but easy to handle. Reminds me of a golf club grip. I like the use of snake guides and the hook keeper is a plus. Rod action is medium fast and seems accurate for the weight of the rod. The aluminum reel seems well made, probably weighs more than the rod. The fly line looks like a typical cheap Chinese import, no looped but they do include a braided loop add on so that’s fine is fine. The leader, again a Chinese made leader, it’s fine. The backing is a nice touch. The fly box feels cheap but actually has a magnetic closure which is cool. The flies are not that great. Just some cheaply made attractor wet flies. The rod case seems well made and is a welcome addition and I like the addition of an extra pocket on the reel end of the rod case. The rod sleeve and reel bag are cheaply made but they do the job. Again, all the cheaper components are expected with a rod at this price point. What I don’t like:Would have preferred an oversized tiptop, a standard size is used. Would have preferred black anodized snake guides instead of chrome, would have gone better with the overall color theme. The thread wraps on the guides are a touch sloppy with some guide ends showing between wraps. I build my own fly rods so I understand that this is simply a sign of a quick machine wrapping, but the guides seem to have sturdy attachment and the rod coat should hold things together. Would have liked to see alignment dots on each rod section, but again, price point makes a difference. I can add alignment dots myself.Final takeaway is that for the money, it’s a fine beginner combo and the 5/6 weight would be more forgiving for a beginner who desires an easier distance cast. Time will tell if it’s got long term usage. Once you get the basics down, upgrade to Redington or low end Sage, both made by the same company. My best word of advice, put your money on the rod, not the reel. The reel with this combo would be just fine on a higher end rod. Buy this combo, you won’t be disappointed.

Love it
Good starting kit if anything I think I'll get a better rod down the line if this one every gives out but the reel is super good

HORRIBLE ITEM
Missing a key part now I have to buy all new line because the line it comes with was CRAZY tangled so I did and put it on just to find out that I was missing a key part so I have to cut all that off and buy brand new line with it so that cost me like 30+ dollars

Pretty good product for price, but really couldn't spool the fly line?
I truly don't why they can include the backing on a spool, but couldn't include the fly line on a spool. If you're buying this product, go ahead and buy your own fly line. Because it's a hassle and a waste of time use the included fly line. The clippers are junk too.Otherwise, I like the pole and the case is adequate. Great product for beginners. But again, buy your own fly line.
