Excellent quality
Most excellent picture, sound and controls. Vety happy with my choice. The extraordinary range of the viewing choices has taken me a few week to get a grip of but now very pleased. A Sony customer for the last 40 years

Smart 43" Sony Google TV
Bought one of the first Android TV which had many teething problems but a lovely picture particularly on non HD programs. The current 2023 model is in another class of features and responsiveness at half the cost of the original. Sound seems good but we tend to use our old Sony sound bar. Voice recognition works well but normally we use the remotes rather than shout at the TV. I've connected £20 earphones by Bluetooth which pair automatically when taken out of their charging case, but have to turn off the Soundbar for silence in the room.

Sony BRAVIA KD-43X80L TV Review: Style Over Substance, and the Customer Pays the Price
I've been using to Sony for years, but recent models like the Sony BRAVIA KD-43X80L reveal a troubling trend: essential features sacrificed for the sake of minimalism or cost-cutting. Sony markets these changes as advancements, but they actually feel like shortcuts—compromises that put style over function.Downsized and Dysfunctional RemoteThe remote control, for instance, has been drastically downsized from what it was 15 years ago. Instead of combining functions, Sony now provides two smaller remotes, each with buttons so tiny and close together that trying to pause often leads to accidental backspacing. The lack of a backlight is frustrating—especially when other devices like the Nvidia Shield feature backlit remotes that light up automatically when picked up. Sony’s compact remote may look sleek, but it’s simply not practical, especially for users in dimly lit rooms.Power Cable Placement: An Inconvenient Design ChoiceThe power cable placement is another glaring flaw. At just 1.5 meters, the cable is already short, but Sony has placed the power input on the far right side of the TV, not centered or at the bottom where it would be far more practical. If your outlet is on the left, you’re stuck running the cable across the back of the TV or buying an extension cord. For wall-mounted setups, this can be a real hassle—one that could have easily been avoided with a more user-centered design.Essential Controls Are Gone—LiterallyAnd here’s the biggest issue: essential physical controls for volume, power, and channel selection are not just hard to find—they’re gone. Sony has completely removed them from the TV. So, if your remote dies or goes missing, you’re out of luck. Unlike older models where you could at least adjust the volume or change the channel on the TV itself, this model leaves you entirely dependent on the remote.Bottom Line: A Poor Move for CustomersThis stripped-down, minimalist approach doesn’t enhance the user experience—it limits it. Long-time customers like myself can see the difference, and unfortunately, it’s not an improvement. Sony may be cutting costs, but they’re also cutting corners, and the result is a disappointing experience for the user.I kept it for one reason only, its good on energy.

Excellent TV, (difficult Broadband set up)
Very pleased with our new TV. The sound and picture are really nice and the television comes with the superb 'YouView' TV guide, along with various i Player type App's, including options to purchase Now TV, Netflix etc, if wanted. The only negative was the set up... Fortunately we had a Google account in place, so that saved time. We gave up on trying to mirror the TV to the phone, (not that we're missing that anyway). Why don't companies realise we're not all familiar with IT. Setting the Broadband security pass was unnecessarily stressful... Everytime we entered the code via the remote control, the numbers went to a smaller font, (or third size?), resulting in the code being not recognised. We eventually muddled through, although I'm not sure how... Apart from this, we're very pleased with our purchase and would happily recommend the TV, (just ensure you have a teenager on hand, to help set up the IT options).

Lovely picture
ProsExcellent picture quality especially as it up-scales lower resolutions. Plenty of installed apps.ConsExpensive. Limited blue-tooth connectivity (no good for earphones). Remote control too small - easy to hit the wrong button, e.g. 'guide' is next to 'fast-forward'.

Google tv set up for apple easy use...
A top end tv set up for apple cast.A great tv but I'm having no end of trouble trying to connect my Android to it. Old Sony bravia did it seamlessly. And cast everything. On an older bravia model. W8 series.Normal screen mirroring is not recognised anymore like previous Sony Bravia models. You now have to download cast for Chromecast and then its massively bloated with ad after ad it still will not recognise my tv.It's askin for a monthly or one time subscription to use the cast service.Where as apple is in the inputs section ready to go.I know that this is also Google tryin to make money. Im sending my own video's to the tv amd it wants me to pay for it.. 🤬.You will need to set up WiFi direct to cast. Bit of a faff bit it works.Havin said that... This tv is the db's and i would highly recommend it 🫡✌️
