You need to budget for an ash handle or make one yourself but the head is strong, sturdy but heavy. God for it intended use of clearing/digging new patches. A bit too heavy for the delicate hoeing in an already planted border if you want to preserve the existing plants. But there are other lighter tools for that. Use this for clearing and area in the autumn or digging over a fresh patch of ground. If you want to how in a planted border get an English or Dutch hoe, they are designed for the light jobs. This excels at the heavy work.

excellent product,but struggled to find a handle for it,quite heavy but ideal for purpose

this is a brute of a hoe. order the proper handle at the same time ,saves sanding down a pick axe shaft like i had to do , took ages as well. tool was wider bladed than i expected , almost full spade width ,so beware. havent used it yet but expecting great results. have drainage channel to dig and expect this tool will be awesome. good buy , proper happy .

Very pleased with this hoe, I wanted it to aid hoeing up my potatoes on my allotment, the soil was heavier this year due to rain. This will make this task much easier in future. Not too heavy.
