Mechman 390-Amp High Output Alternator 1996-2020 GM Truck/SUV 4.3L 4.8L 5.3L 5.7L 6.0L (Natural)

Had this for about 3 months now, holding up fine, make sure you hook it up to switched wire😅 didnt do this at first, have it running with 5500 watts (4500 and 1000w amp) and works fine, sees 5k rpms almost daily and works great, highly recommend especially for the price, sitting at about 14.5-14.8v with engine on, fits 97 Silverado vortec 305, actually makes more than 390, got a sticker said it makes like 413 max, get a big 3 1/0 ofc upgrade when getting this alt for best performance.

Alternator is amazing! Sold me a 390 amp that actually tested at 417 amp on the dyno and 203 at idle! Definitely cured my lack of amps problem. Mechman you guys are amazing. 👏

Get one! I was in car audio at a high end professional level for about 15 yrs (1993-2008). Now at 47, I still love it and occasionally do installs for friends and family. Granted a lot had changed over the years but there is one thing I can tell you for certain, upgrading to an aftermarket high output alternator like this Mechman's is the single most effective accessory you can add to your vehicle's electrical system period! With everything I can turn on turned on, interior/exterior lights, aftermarket LEDs, AC front and rear, cell phones charging, a 2000 watt bass amp running at 1 ohm and a 500 watt 4 channel amp jammin all at the same time, the voltage DOES NOT DROP below 13.9 volts at idle!!! Before this, a brand new factory 160 amp alternator and 2 brand new AGM batteries could not keep up. At idle, voltage was 11.9. For my 07 Tahoe, 5.3l LT, the pulley was decently smaller so I did swap to their recommended belt size of 93.0 inches. Their chart will give the exact part number. I said to begin with....GET ONE! It's absolutely worth the money!

Great alternator voltage holds good now pushing around 5000 watt system with factory battery. Did the big 3 with it. It’s a need not a want if getting this alternator. Only proper is when installing if you have a brake booster and not a hydro booster. Your gauges will say something like check break booster. Doesn’t bother me any.
