Mind Games (The Ultimate Collection) [Deluxe 6 CD/2 Blu-ray]

This Mind Games CD box set is an absolute revelation. The beautifully crafted book offers incredible insight into the making of the album and John’s life at the time, adding so much depth to the listening experience. The Lennon family continues to do an outstanding job with these sets, giving fans a truly immersive and respectful look into John’s work.I’ve always liked Mind Games, but this set completely changed my perspective—it’s made me appreciate the album in a whole new way. A must-have for Lennon fans, both for the music and the wealth of historical context it provides.

As mentioned multiple of times before this review. There is a problem with CD1 (having 90 tracks all but 12 are normal length. Rest 78 tracks are 24 sec. long without any audio sound.CD2- CD6 had sequence of tracks in different follow up order then original LP (CD) or as printed on box set.I returned the set immediately, receiving second set with identical problems.I decided to deal with the problem best way I could. Imported to (old i-tunes/ apple music) all 90 tracks on CD1. Then i removed (deleted) excessive 78 tracks, kept only remaining original 12 Tracks. Then edited, by entered names, artist, album. Consequently I also corrected (changed) the sequence of tracks on all 6 CD's Chronological order of all the tracks 1-12. Took bit of time, got it done. Now I have the whole 6 CD's saved on music as it was intended, it's perfect.Flowed by this software hiccup (my guess) it is beautiful remastered lovingly put together set!On the same level as any of Lennon's previous boxsets.Perhaps this boxset was never intended to be stored (ripped) on computer music. Maybe to be played directly on your stereo system?Luckily Blue ray DVD/CD 7 & 8 are perfect, certainly plays perfectly in HR !Those 2 discs are the treasure of this boxset anyway. (Disc 7 is identical in content to Disc 1). Difference being format only.

After the breakup of The Beatles, John Lennon released two albums that were critically acclaimed and experienced strong sales. While Imagine was widely praised and regarded as up to his usual standards, Plastic Ono Band was considered too negative and too heavily influenced by Yoko. In 1972 , he released “Sometime in New York City.” Although the album sold fairly well in the United States, it received poor reception from everyone and deservedly so. It was perceived as nothing but a sellout to radical causes, and this was not an unfair assessment.In 1973 , Lennon arrived in Southern California and began recording with artists like David Bowie and Elton John. The Mind Games album was a vast improvement over anything he recorded since 1970. The lyrics as well as the tunes were original and sounded great. Most fans were thrilled because he was back on track with his music career.This box sent contains the remixed studio version of the album and several versions of the songs in their unfinished stages. It also contains a CD of music with no vocals. There are two Blue Ray CD’s and a DVD. The book and other memorabilia are interesting. Although pricey, it is worth owning.

The music quality is so much better than it was top quality sound reproduction great Job Sean and his team and Yoko! Also the album cover art is a beautiful brilliant bright color just lovely! Nice outtakes and demo's of all the songs on Mind Games the remix is done just perfectly like it's a new album all together! Sean doing a great job on all his remixed albums do far! Nice book lots of information and nice pictures too postcards inside! So many good songs on here Mind games Out the blue Meat city the rocker! Thanks Amazon fast delivery!

The remastering, deluxe packaging, content, and overall quality of this 6 cd 2 blue ray set is excellent!!! Whether you are an original fan from long ago or just learning about John Lennon you should get this immersive set!!! You will not be disappointed!!! The Lennon estate continues with another OUTSTANDING addition to the legacy of John Lennon!!! The item was shipped in a custom box inside another box providing great protection. The item arrived in mint condition!!!

True many songs show up multiple times but in different forms. I love it and glad I didn't get the dbl cd set. This Rocks! Oh and yes its worth the money. Superb quality! Even if they play mind games with hiding songs.

There is a very diverse set of versions of the songs. Frustrated with all the "hidden" tracks. Fun idea, but I really do not want to go fishing and needing to use my blue ray / dvd / cd player in odd configurations just to be able to hear all the songs I should have when I buy the album. Plus, I want to be able to download them onto my computer and what with all these crazy means of finding the hidden tracks, it is frustrating. We don't all have great computer prowess to be able to manipulate these things.

An essential archive for the Lennon fan. Aside from the classic title track there are many other excellent and highly melodic tracks on this album. The richly detailed book and accompanying CDs tell the entire story of its creation.
