Connected to my macbook pro m5 without a problem and has worked flawlessly. It is very easy to use. At 5 tb's it has great storage amount. I hope it lasts a long time.

I've been using Western Digital passport drives since way back in 2005. In fact, I still have an old 40? GB that still works - they're pretty durable, but I get a new one every 7-8 years to make sure I don't have one go bad, and to keep up with any technology advancements like USB 3 speeds. This little guy lived up to my expectations; it was fast, it seems just as well-made and durable as prior versions, and the space let me put on all the episodes of bluey (for my kids) and most of the marvel movies as well (also for my kids), and still have some space to stick on some fun comedy and action flicks (... also for my kids, eventually). It's light weight, fast, durable, and what's not to like? It's a great little drive.

Ordered a 5TB drive, received a 5MB (4.9MB) drive in a box labelled 5 TB. Based on the number of positive reviews for this product, I wrongfully assumed this issue had been resolved. (Shame on Amazon for continuing to market this product.) Spent several minutes using Disk Utility to verify the drive I received only has 4.9MB of storage, NOT the 5TB I purchased for a whopping $179.00+ tax. Complete waste of my time during a work day. Am returning the drive and will be purchasing another SanDisk Professional G-Drive ArmorATD because the Seagate drives I own are unreliable and dismount without notice – usually when I am in the middle of a project, which guarantees all of my changes and new work are lost. For those who are interested, I use Mac compatible, reliable external drives with a decent lifespan and transfer speed. Plug and play is a plus, not a must. I will re-format exFAT drives like the SanDisk Pro G-Drive ArmorADT. Functional cable that comes with the drive is also a must. Western Digital is notorious for shipping drives with defective cables. I decided to give this drive a try based on positive reviews posted by Amazon purchasers and a review in MacWorld (they certainly missed the mark). This product was a complete waste of my time and money. Don't be duped! Save your money and skip this external drive. If you want a great reliable external drive with a good transfer speed (that doesn't significantly degrade as the drive fills) and good lifespan (mine are 5 yrs and counting), buy the SanDisk Professional G-Drive ArmorATD. The G-Drive is a bit spendy, but they are ruggedized drives, unlike Seagate, the WD My Passport Ultra and many other brands – and you won't go thru the stupid crap I just experienced with this WD My Passport Ultra drive that only had 4.9MB of storage space. SHEESH ... The SanDisk Pro G-Drive offers VARIETY with 5 drive sizes: 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, 5TB and 6TB. They are RELIABLE and come with a good quality cable (unlike Western Digital). Note: the SanDisk is formatted to exFAT, so you will need to re-format using Disk Utility – but that's a breeze and only takes a few minutes. Save yourself time, hassle and aggravation ... avoid this drive and buy a SanDisk Pro G-Drive ArmorADT.

It is an external hard drive that has spinning platters. Care must be taken not to move it when it is operating. I wish it was like the SSD drives as it needs a power source to operate.

Had this for almost 2 years and now it's dying a slow death. it was a great media server hard drive but when it fell of the cliff, it fell fast and hard. I don't know if it was bad sectors or the constant reading but one day the write speeds just dropped to single digit MB/s and it became useless.

UPDATE- This drive that I first reviewed failed within two months. I gave it a 5-star review. So, I bought a second one - and it began having problems almost immediately. I called their tech support, was handed off to a text messaging tech and explained what was happening (the drive LED was constantly flashing) and after trying a few things, they finally said to use my Disk Utility. After I did that, it found numerous errors, once the utility was finished the drive began working properly and I haven't had another issue yet. It was good to know that their tech support was available to resolve my issue. FIRST DRIVE REVIEW: I was using a WD 1T Passport with the original USB connection from practically the dark ages and it was performing so slowly, taking hours to back up. I finally bought this 5T model and it backs up in bare minutes. It plugs directly into my MacBook Pro with USB C. No complaints, it works seamlessly with Time Machine.

I had to return another hard drive because it wouldn’t partition on my Mac. But, this one worked perfectly. I’m traveling for the next 6 months and need a portable hard drive that will replace my NAS at home since everything will be in storage. Easy to use, configure, and excellent price for 4tb. Can’t speak to the longevity because I’ve just bought it.

Un producto de primera calidad, con unos acabados y diseño notables. La experiencia de uso de momento genial. Ha sido conectarlo al mac y en poco más de media hora aproximadamente ha realizado una copia de casi 500gb. A nivel sonoro, diría que es imperceptible. Muy satisfecho con la compra.

This is a great little backup hard drive. Great capacity, small and easily portable. It comes with a USB C to USB C lead and a USB C to USB A adaptor. The adaptor connects to the end of the lead and this gives you the ability to connect the disk to a USB C or USB A port on your PC or Laptop. Very easy to use. If you are going to lug it around in a laptop bag then get a protective case for it to keep dust out of the USB C connection and to protect the hard drive from knocks

Dopo anni di onorato servizio ho dovuto sostituire un analogo hard disk western Digital, in quanto il settore del disco era non leggibile/danneggiato. Hard disk compatto, di nuova generazione, bello da vedere, leggero e sottile. Buone performance riguardo il trasferimento dei dati grazie alla porta usb c (presente adattore usb 3.0). Si può anche utilizzare con windows 10 scaricando appositi driver o riformattando l'unità. Consigliato l'acquisto anche per la garanzia di affidabilità del marchio. Spedizione Amazon Prime velocissima con consegna in locker, in alcuni casi si spreca meno tempo che andare in un negozio fisico tradizionale.

Very good deal, working fine

Na ongeveer 11 maanden gebruik is de WD schijf defect. Dé schijf was zichtbaar vanuit Windows, maar de inhoud niet. Ik heb geprobeerd met verschillende computers (Windows 10 en 11} en met verschillende kabels met steeds hetzelfde resultaat. Ik heb dan verschillende suggesties geprobeerd van de WD en Windows sites, de enige schijnbare oplossing was uiteindelijk het formatteren van de WD schijf (zeer onbetrouwbaar bij gebruik van de schijf als back-up). Blijkt echter dat bij copieren van een directory naar de WD schijf slechts een deel van de subdirectories gecopieerd wordt. Zelfde toestand na opnieuw herformatteren. Besluit : de schijf is defect en volledig onbetrouwbaar voor back-up. Nota : ik heb nog 3 andere, oudere, externe harde schijven (ook vroeger gekocht bij Amazon) van andere merken. Met deze heb ik nog nooit een probleem gehad. Prima service van Amazon ivm de garantie van 2 jaar.
