Easy Closets: Affordable Storage Solutions for Everyone (Creative Homeowner) (Home Improvement)

This is a good, basic book with handy, affordable closet ideas for all types of closets: coat closets and mudrooms, open closets, kids' rooms, master bedrooms, kitchen pantries, linen closets and garages. There are great color photographs on almost every page with excellent descriptions of the different closets. There's also a long and varied Resource Guide in the back of the book, so the reader can obtain the closet materials. The book clearly describes the basic components of each type of closet. Whether you are starting from scratch or remodeling, this book can guide you through closet construction. My one criticism is the section on Master Suites because I was specifically seeking a book that would guide me in designing a closet for a new master suite. This section had all the basic information that I needed such as: "Width & Height Allowances for Hung Garments," Stack Heights for Piled Garments," "Controlling & Preventing Moths," and a comprehensive list of what is usually stored in both men's and women's closets. However, there just weren't enough pictures and examples here to give me different ideas. The affordability aspect meant that the book stuck to the basics. So, while this book may not be the "ultimate" guide to closets, it is still an excellent book about closets!

Not enough detail

I am looking for good detailed drawings when I purchase a book like this. This book has a few helpful ideas but not much of the detail I was hoping for. Details like bar heights and shelves depths are important design elements but that sort of information is often difficult to find.

A storage solution for every type of nook and cranny in your home. Also, instructions for building many of the solutions offered in the book. Great illustrations, clear concise photos, interesting notes and comments. So glad I got this book.

This book was quite interesting and informative however I expected to see more pictures of closets, in order to have more ideas of the types of closets which exist.

The first thing I thought after going through this book was, "You wrote a book telling me to go buy closet storage systems? How innovative and affordable is that?" That can cost a fortune actually and do I really need a book to tell me that? Most of this book consist of pretty pictures of completed closets with no explanation of the process that created them. There's a photo of a lavish closet near the front of the book, obviously costing a great deal. That's it. On to the next closet. Wait. So you're saying I could have googled Pretty Closets and found more info and photos and better instruction for free? I returned the book.

It has been helpful in designing the layout for a new closet and had several ideas that I had not thought about.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I want to have a built in wardrobe, so does my son. As we have awkwardly measured walls there is a bit of a problem being able to make something that looks like it belongs in the room and works on the inside. This offers lots of good ideas and practical solutions. I keep dipping into it it's so good.
