Excellent build quality and cooks great
Fantastic oven air fryer it is very easy to use the knobs and display are well built. The style is very nice also. The oven cooks very well and I use it almost every day. I bought this as an upgrade to a smaller air fryer and I like the larger capacity of this one. It has a nice pre heating function and a wide variety of other cooking options although I have not tried them all. Keeping it clean is a problem as the grease builds up quickly especially if you use it frequently.

Fine Craftsmanship Throughout
I was planning to buy a small, inexpensive replacement for my 20 year old, 2 rack Oster which finally bit the dust. After spending way too much time researching, it dawned upon me that since I use this every day, why not upgrade to bigger and better and so I did. This countertop oven is awesome. Wish I had done this long ago. Now for some details. The dimensions listed for the product are not accurate. I measured and found 13" D x 18.5" W x 10.5" H to be the actual size. Nonetheless, this product is ideal in so many ways and full of nice features. My old toaster oven had 2 rack positions and this one has 3 which is nice. When you open the door with the rack inside, the rack pops out with the rack guide which is very nice. It has a three plug outlet cord to run the 1800 watts and so far no issues with the kitchen circuit. The preheat time is fast and sweet. This model comes in a very nice blue and has 10 function controls, which is plenty. This Damson Blue Smart Oven is what I consider a mid range size in that it has three rack positions compared to many small toaster ovens which have two and the larger ovens have four. This unit is an upgrade in size from my older toaster oven and that is exactly what I wanted for the long haul. You can use parchment paper for most everything, which is so much better environmentally. Say goodbye to all the foil usage. While the manual does say to not line the crumb tray with foil, you can use foil to wrap your food if needed. A note about "Convection" and "Air Fryer" is also important since many brands now tout this in their marketing materials. In my research, what I learned is that these two terms simply mean, it has a fan. The fan is used to disperse heat evenly throughout the small chamber. This unit does come with a good sized air fryer basket but I have not tried it yet. The controls are very easy and simple to use and are of very good quality. Other than all of the features and size, I chose this model and brand based upon how high the Breville brand rates on most top ten lists. In my view, this is a great value and highly recommended for the cost.

Fits a 12" pizza! Bagels perfect + pizza reheat is elite. Worth the splurge (olive is gorgeous)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars I bought this to replace a sad 4-slice toaster that was basically a “warm bread suggestion machine.” I hesitated because my full-size oven has convection… but turning on the whole oven to crisp nuggets felt like using a semi truck to deliver a taco. This countertop oven won me over immediately. Why I’m obsessed: Toasted bagels = perfection: First use was a bagel and we were instantly converted. I didn’t know bagels could be that perfect. Fits a 12" pizza: Yes, a full 12-inch pizza fits (aka the exact size of most grocery store frozen pizzas). It even comes with a pizza pan. Actually cooks a real meal: Big enough to do 4 full-size chicken breasts easily. It can handle a meal for 2–4 people depending on appetites. Fast: No 20-minute preheat lifestyle. This thing is ready to cook right out of the gate. Cooks everything well: Reheats takeout, nuggets, homemade mac n cheese, frozen pizza, fresh pizza… it just nails it. Pizza reheat is elite: Crispy edges, melty top, no microwave sadness. Easy controls: Dials + digital display are intuitive. I didn’t need the manual. Plug in, go. Looks amazing: I got the olive green and it’s genuinely beautiful on the counter. Easy to keep clean: I use fitted parchment liners to keep cheese/oil off the rack + crumb tray, which saves me a ton of cleanup time. Makes me cook more: I use it several times a day because it removes the hassle (and waiting) of the full oven. Noise + heat (real-life stuff): Noise: On air fry it sounds like a soft hair dryer. Not obnoxious. Heat: The front behind the handle does get hot (there’s a caution label right where it heats). Use oven mitts or tongs and you’re fine. Price reality: I was nervous spending around $350 on a countertop appliance (first time for me), but I don’t regret it. I use it constantly. Quick answers: Fits a 12" pizza? Yes Big enough for meals? Yes (2–4 people) Easy to use? Yes Preheat needed? Minimal Reheats food well? Yes (pizza especially) Loud? No (soft hair dryer sound on air fry) Gets hot? Yes, front area behind handle Easy to clean? Yes (liners help a lot) Would buy again? Absolutely

Great Oven with Many Features
My old oven, the same model blew out during a lightening storm. I decided to try one of their fancy new ovens and even though the price was very high I have trusted them for more than a decade. The new, expensive one arrived and after an hour or so wrestling down the hallway to the kitchen, unpacking it, trying to lift it up (it weights at least 80 lbs.) and finally getting it plugged in....... it didn't work - kept getting an error message. Customer service was not really helpful at all. I finally after much consideration decided to chance it and get this model as it was pretty close to my old one (with a few new features like air fry). It is exactly as stated. Fits perfectly where my old one was. All the functions are great (I really like the air fryer) and it started working immediately. I actually got my Ninga off the counter because this did it all. Grilling in Ninga is only thing I miss but broiling will do. All the features cook everything perfectly only one I haven't tried yet is dehydrating but I have some apples I'm going to try. I can roast a whole large chicken or half a turkey in it. It also cooks a Medium (12") pizza. I can make a dozen cookies at a time. It lights up when you open or close it and has a button to keep light on through out cooking which I like for baking small batch of cookies or pizza. It is easy to clean up, I just wipe with a damp cloth when it cools down enough. I keep a silicon sheet in the roasting pan in shelf under air fryer pan when I use that and any drips can easily be wiped off sheet. This is a great value for all the functions it has and I am so glad I got it.

Just about perfect (BOV-860)
I searched for months to find a new counter-top oven. Our Cuisinart had been through two children and more than a few burned tortilla shells. I wanted a toaster-oven that had a high output convection feature, was noted to air fry, had a nonstick interior AND would fit on the kithcen counter in our 174 year old house here on the coast of Maine. This oven does what it says. Just about all of it! Every feature, not without the odd quirk here and there, works as described. Like everyting from a cast iron skillet to this oven, there are nuances in programming, timing, and maintenance. - Toast. Even browning. Not hard. - Bake. Even bread rising, weekly loaf comes out more evenly for less energy than my range oven. - Air fry. It does! Larger batch than a stand alone air fryer! - Roast. 3lbs chicken! - Reheat. Great that it goes down to 120F. A few tips? Observations and remarks answered from others: - Do not overload when air frying. Cook in batches. Do not over oil the product. - Do not turn the program selection knob to fast it skips. Like the first press of the light button from “sleep”, the first program selection wakes up the display. - Be smart and check the oven temperature with a good probe. Its quite close and fairly even but not perfect. - Don't whine about the fan noise. It’s a convection oven sitting on your counter. What did you expect? - It gets HOT on the top and sides. I put together my own bamboo board and silicon feet on top. Reach out and I'll tell you how. - Cleaning is not without its challenges but easier than our previous oven. This is a good appliance! Since December 2023 I've prepared: - Air fried roasted toasted walnuts with smoked paprika and sea salt. - Blueberry pie (Hey! Its Maine!) - Skillet blueberry corn bread (Hey! Its Maine!) - Bacon and bacon - Air fried 'broasted' chicken - Baked haddock (Hey! Its Maine) - Weekly loaf of bread - Toast, bagels, this and that Look, this is a pricey investment. But you get what you pay for and the Breville BOV-860 does the job unusually well. If you are up for the investment, this is a good product that I strongly recommend. PS. To be completely candid, I had troubles with pre-sale support that were not resolved. I tried to reach Breville through several different channels for specific dimensions which were never provided. I did find the details, on my own, but would have appreciated answers from the manufacturer. All’s well that ends well but there is room for improvement.

A kitchen staple!
I've been working to remove toxic cooking devices from my home and trying to use the microwave less and this has been absolutely amazing for that. I was hesitant based on the price as there are other brands that you can get for a much cheaper amount, but I'm very glad I splurged for this brand. Based on reviews it sounds like the cheaper versions don't cook evenly but I've had no issues with the Breville oven. It's so versatile and a great kitchen staple. It is definitely large on the countertop so you need space for it, but it's worth it!

Can’t go without it
This is my third Breville oven. The last one was the air fryer pro which I used daily for 5 years. The door spring went and then the oven started turning off after 15 minutes no matter how I set it. So, considering the price tag of Brevilles I started researching other brands. In the end, I decided on the smart oven air fryer. The pro is terrific but it is massive and heavy. This model Is a little smaller, not as heavy and it looks very nice on the counter without taking up too much space. Since I use it mostly for bake, toast and broil, sometimes air fry, it does just about everything I need. I purchased the black and I think it’s a nice change from stainless everything. I am comparing this to the Air Fryer Pro. So the only cons for me on this model are: -Only one rack so only one batch at a time. -No dehydrate function Just like the other Breville ovens, this is well built, the outside does not get as hot as some of the other popular brands, so it seems well insulated. Also, I noticed in reviews of some other brands that the first few uses the oven gives off a bad odor. The Breville does NOT. I wonder what’s in those others that they need to burn off?? As others said, if you do a lot of air frying you might want a dedicated air fryer. This oven does a good job but my sweet potato fries could have been a bit crispier. The oven is easy to clean, easy to move if you must, and you don’t need a PHD to figure out how to use it. I do miss the little bit of extra cooking space and extra racks and the ability to put in more than one item at a time. I never used the dehydrate function on my other oven. Overall, this is a fantastic oven for making meals for 1-4/5 people. And it looks good!

REVISED REVIEW: 5 Star Service!!
Wow, amazing service. I had a problem with the unit, see below. Reached them on a Monday before Christmas and had a replacement by Wednesday! Swapped out the main unit and shipped off the same day, prepaid by Breville. This is how customer service should work, this is the best possible outcome. Lifelong customer now. Hopefully, this new unit will last as long as my first. I can highly recommend. Original: Nice, although I'm not sure the light is always working properly. Update - per Breville customer service, the light comes on at the end of the cooking cycle. Great service and follow up. HAZARD UPDATE: The unit was smoking from the top of the control panel inside while on air fry at 425 after about 10-15 minutes last night. I unplugged it. It was not the food, the food was fine, this was a burning plastic smell and the smoke was pouring out of the closed door of the unit and smoked up the kitchen with an awful odor. We've only had this for about 14 weeks so a bit concerned as to next steps. If I contact Breville and they replace, will the next unit have the same design issue? Is it worth a kitchen fire? Right now the unit is unplugged, 3 days before Christmas. So frustrating, we rely on this toaster oven for most of our dinners. Never had this happen, even with the old unit this one replaced. Update: Breville called me back on Monday and they offered two options. First was ship it to a service center and wait many weeks for a diagnosis, repair and shipping back to me. After I mentioned I was concerned it would have the same problem and that it was a fire hazard, they offered to send me a new one. So for $157 on my card they are sending me a new one and will refund that amount when they get the old one back. A much better scenario since it’s only a little over 3 months old. Fingers crossed and thanks for the great service Breville.
