Entertaining Game for Football Fans
I have never played Madden on PC before Madden 08. I've had Madden 08 for PS2 and I absolutely loved it. I spent hours and hours building up a superstar. And when I found out that Madden 08 was also on PC, and at a price of only $10, I decided, hey, why not also buy it for PC.First off, unlike many other console games available on PC, you do not need a great graphics card. I do just fine with an ATI Radeon 3450. I never played Madden 07 for PC, and I am confused about why some of the reviewers were whining about Madden 08 not being much better than 07 version. Seriously, I don't understand. Why would you buy an older version when the newer version is only $10, and in my opinion, Madden 08's gameplay was great. Except for the flashing screen when the game loads up (and it only flashed once), I have not experienced any glitches at all, the gameplay was otherwise very smooth. Although I did need to adapt from using the PS2 controls to PC controls, there wasn't any other main differences in gameplay at all with the console versions and the PC versions.I was very upset that EA decided to not release Madden 09 for PC, but the good news it that they will for 2010 season. I'll be looking forward to another season of Madden on my PC. I would recommend this game to all those football fans out there because it is a great football game. Thank you for taking your time and reading this.

Great Game
This is the first time we have purchased a Madden game, and I greatly enjoy it. The gameplay is relatively smooth, and usually works well with my computer. If you have a PS2 or 3, I would recommend you get Madden for that, because although the game works fine and is very enjoyable, it has frozen up on me a lot when playing multiplayer. I would also recommend that you get dual-analog controllers with the game, because it is far easier to play with them than using the keyboard.I have a Geforce 8300 GS graphics card, and I run the game on Windows Vista.Performance has been steady, and slowups have not been an issue. The game was great overall, and I just hope EA decides to make NCAA Football 09 for PC as well.

Loved this game and was so sad when I had ...
Loved this game and was so sad when I had played 30 seasons and I couldn't go any farther. Season 31 would have been interesting as my defensive line was going to need an overhaul. All three of my defensive tackle's were 37 years old and suspect I was going to lose all three to retirement, and my overall #1 draft choice at right defensive end had become a bust after his first year and I was going to have to get rid of him (for probably a much lower draft pick). My only complaint about this game is that most of the teams stayed pretty much in terms of how good or bad they were in the 30 season run. Out of the 30 seasons there was only one where the NFC Super Bowl contender was not the Rams, Bears or Saints. And teams like the Raiders, Texans, Giants, Lions, and 49ers never made it out of last in their divisions the whole 30 seasons, whereas teams like the Eagles, Patriots, and Bengals always won their's. There were a few teams that did vary over the play time; Chargers and Colts were tough to beat for about 15 seasons then they just turned into ok opponents. Teams like Cardinals, Ravens, and Jags would be good one year, then bad, then good again. Sure wish they'd still make a PC version of the newer ones. It's too bad there wasn't some kind of update to this one so we could have kept it going.

Some things are good, while others are downright annoying
I've had this game in the box for a while because I also own Madden 2006 for PC, and I wasn't ready to break out the new one, especially since I thought 2008 might be the last version for PC. Since I have now learned (or, at least, I thought I had learned... turns out I was misinformed) that EA is bringing it back for 2010, I decided to pop open my 08 version.I really like some of the graphics and gameplay, compared to 2006. (Granted, I cannot comment on how similar it is to 07, which has been a problem for others.) One of the main changes I noticed is that in superstar mode, I am no longer able to control the gameplay with my superstar. I don't get to call the plays most suitable to my star's (or my own) skills. I have to go with what the coach calls. This makes it a little more difficult to excel. (In '06 I could simply run up the scores with my star on the team, giving him high marks and skills, and even getting him on the Madden cover eventually. I'm not sure I'll be able to do that on '08... but I'll try!) The superstar also has a few new skills to show off at the combines before he is drafted, so that's been fun to learn.Franchise mode is not much different as far as I can tell. However, as others have mentioned, the players on good teams get very good way too fast. The thing that really annoys me about this compared to '06 is the navigation. On '06, most menus have the option to use a drop-down OR arrow keys to change selection, whether switching positions in team management mode or raising/lowering salary in contract signing mode. I found it far easier in team management mode to use the arrow keys so I could be sure my depth chart was the way I wanted it at all positions. Well, those arrows are now GONE. I can only use the drop-down menu and select a position, check the depth chart at that position, then use the drop-down menu again until I've gone through each position. THIS IS HORRIBLE!!***UPDATE*** It turns out that I accidentally discovered the way to quickly navigate the drop-down menus. You can use the mouse wheel to do it. This has saved me a lot of aggravation. So I raised my rating to 4 stars.
