Really good little solar unit - you can hear it pop!
I was sceptical purchasing this as my field is five acres and I have four horses to keep safe. My batteries on my normal energises need regular charging and if you forgot one of my horses took advantage. I purchased this unit, it comes with partial charge, you can top it up before use, then it’s solar. Simple to install, worked straight away and has lights to indicate when needs a recharge/when on etc. I’m weeks into using this, Houdini horse hasn’t tested it once! You can hear the pop if it shorts agains metal! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend one. It decide my field rather than goes round perimeter of the 5 acres - but I’m tempted to get another to place elsewhere and eek the pulse out. Excellent value for money. Enough shock for Houdini horse and good quality too!

For those with failure problems.
Works a treat and lasts OK. One problem is the switch. It fails and there is no pulse. Red LED comes on when switched off. You have to jiggle it, turn it on and off rapidly for a few seconds. Or hold it firmly and slowly move it. Better still change the switch for a better one. Other than that it works fine. Just has a poor on/off switch.

Better instructions needed
Fabulous little solar energiser, but the instructions are not good. It tells you which cable to insert where but thats it. No operational instructions as such. There is an on/off switch and some LED lights at the side, but no explanation of what the LED lights mean. You plug in the USB initially to charge it and the charge light is green. Does that means its charging or its fully charged? After a while the light goes out so does that mean its fully charged? There is a sensor LED but nothing to tell you what that is. Then when you get it in the field and switch it on, the power light comes on and the ON LED light flashes. Fine. But then do you have to leave it switched on for the sun to charge it? Or switch it off same as if you use the USB? Apart from that its a dinky little critter that seems to do the job!

Small but powerful
Small but packs a punch. Easy to install and use. This was about £50 cheaper than the competition so I went for this as I had no idea whether a hot wired fence would have any effect on my unruly mare. Worked a treat used in conjunction with 5ft posts and 40mm tape. Has two small holes in the back to slot over screws to mount. I’ve mounted on a fence post which was ideal. Already had enough charge without having to use the usb cable and has been running well since installation, red light shows it working with a flashing pulse light.

Nifty bit of kit!
After months of my ponies not going near the fencing one day the decided to break through and open 4 bales of haylage I had there for winter, there is no electric at the yard so was looking for a solar panel option. I couldn't believe how small this unit was, really easy to mount on a fence post connect up and packs a punch. The not so smart one has had a couple of kicks off it, the other 2 can sense when its on, 2 weeks later and works a treat.

Already won’t charge.
Sadly I bought this energiser 4 months ago. Initially it worked really well, now I’ve taken it home to charge as it died (I’m assuming due to the lack on English sunshine) and it won’t charge. Very disappointed as it was meant to have a 4 year guaranteed battery life.

So far so good
I read mixed reviews about this and was a little apprehensive as the unit seems a decent price. However it’s been on my fence for a few weeks now and does the job well. It charges even on an overcast day and has (so far) stood up to Scottish weather. Ponies now respect the fence which is what it was purchased for. Was easy to install too.
