Amazing light - I love it
This light is fantastic. I started off with a Volt 300 and went for several night time road bike rides and the light was great. Then, a few friends planned a MB ride at night and suggested having two lights. So I bought one of the Volt 700 and another Volt 300. They are both great lights and the 300 was fine. After trying the 700 though, I was spoiled. I keep one of the 300s on one side of the handlebar and the 700 on the other side. When it's not quite dark enough that I need the light to see, I'll have the 300 on so that cars can see me. I'll turn on the 700 later in areas where I really want the extra light.I often put the second 300 on my helmet and turn on as needed. The helmet mount came with the 300s and maybe the 700 as well. The helmet mount is great for MB trails, but I find it useful in a few situations on the road bike. When I was turning from a neighborhood road onto the bike path (90 degree turn), I couldn't see exactly where the path started because I was on the right side of the road and the bike path was on the left side of the road (it was a very dark night). The helmet mount allows you to look at things off to the side of the bike. Another example is turning from one road to another in my neighborhood. With just the handlebar mounts, I can't see what's around the turn until I actually make the turn and I'm always worried that there may be people walking that I haven't spotted yet. The helmet mount lets me look at the road I'm turning onto ahead of time.Everything about these light works well. The handlebar mount holds secure. If I leave it just a little loose, it still doesn't slide at all, but I can tilt it up or down as needed (up to see farther ahead and tilt down when a car, cyclist, or pedestrian is coming towards me so as not to blind them). I can easily remove the handlebar mount and move it to other bikes and back. I bought a few extra handlebar mounts to just keep them on the other bikes. The lights slide into the mount and snap when locked in place so you know it's secure. To release, a button is pushed and the light is slid back off of the mount. I think the charging works very well - I have no issues with the USB charging - in fact, I love it. The USB plugs into the bottom of the light and charges the battery inside. You can also remove the battery to swap out with a charged one if necessary. It comes out very easily. There is also a charger that will charge the batteries when removed from the light. It's supposed to be faster, and I believe it's only about $10. Hope this helps. As I said earlier, the Volt 300 is most likely bright enough to satisfy you for riding at night. I just love the 700 off its brightness. Either way I think you'll be happy.

The Great and powerful Volt!
Very bright, and most importantly, well dispersed light! A lot of the cheaper lights for sale here on Amazon may be as bright (at least in terms of lumens rating), but it's Cateye's lens technology that sets them apart. From what I've seen and experienced, most of these bright flashlights/bike lights have a very concentrated beam. Once you adjust the beam to be dispersed, the brightness goes way down. This light disperses light very evenly, and is very bright (in Dynamic mode). This is most important for cycling, as the better the coverage, the more you can see.My personal experience with run times is as follows. Most of the time I ride in "normal" mode, and can get 2+ rides in (averaging 1.5 hours). I sometimes switch to dynamic mode for a while if I'm going fast enough, or the road is dark enough. So, I'd say 2-3 rides of 1-1.5 hours, with 80% of the time in normal mode is about what I get. I generally charge it once a week, or more if I'm doing more night rides. If you were simply using this to commute half an hour or so, you could probably get a full work week on a charge. The best feature about this light is the low battery indicator. The on/off button glows red once you have 20% on a certain mode. But what's cool is the light will then simply turn off that mode, and you can go longer on a lower setting. In other words, if I'm running dynamic mode (most bright) and the low battery light comes on, I can switch to normal mode and the low battery indicator goes off. That's because there may be 20% left on dynamic, but there will be more battery for normal mode. So the battery is "smart" in that you can conserve battery and likely not get stranded when a brighter mode is running out of juice. The light is a little big and bulky (for a road bike), but I'm reaching to find something to complain about. Also, it takes a very long time to charge, I have to leave it on overnight to fully recharge the battery. When riding, switching modes can be a bit tricky, as the button doesn't have a great "tactile" feel either. Lastly, I wish I could squeeze out a bit more time before having to recharge, but for how powerful it is, I guess it's ok. But overall, these very minor complaints are nothing compared to how nice the light is.

Terrific Light
My old 800lm went out and would not accept a charge any longer. It was out of warranty, so I began my research to replace it. I decided on this unit as I have experience with the Cateye 300lm with the same, swapable battery system. I have had my 300lm Cateye for years, and it has never let me down. Mounting system is the best on the market, and I also mount to my helmet for night rides. I also have the optional battery charger, which I love! I purchased the spare battery, so now I never worry about battery life. I have never run out of juice, but if I did, it is just a matter of unscrewing the battery and screwing on the new one. 5 whole seconds to swap out the battery and you are up and running. I just love it. Anyway, if you are looking for a terrific light, with a great beam, this is a killer great light. I also have the Cateye 1600lm light, and have been using it for years. So I have a ton of experience with Cateye lights. They have bee bulletproof for me. My little 300lm is for commuting back and forth to work, and the 800 and 1600 are for my night rides. I ride both mountain and road at night. Can't go wrong with Cateye. They are a bit more expensive, but have been more than worth every hard earned penny!! I would buy all three of my Cateye lights and accessories again in a second, without question. Quality counts when you are in the dark!

Brilliant little light - literally
As a daily commuter who has to go through some unlit areas, I already had what I thought was a bright light, but it's not even in the same ball park as this. I was looking for a light that would work both on roads and down unlit tracks, and this fits the bill perfectly. There are three brightness settings and two different styles of flashing, one where the light stays on and flashes at a slow rate, one where it just flashes but at a faster rate. Of the three brightness settings, I tend to leave it on the middle one, but because it gives a nice white light it's easily bright enough to see where I'm going, with a visible range getting on for 30 - 40 yards, and I mean you can actually identify what's 40 yards away, not just that there's something there. Some comments make note of the beam pattern being too square or oblong, that might be true if you're racing down a forest path at midnight, but I find it lights up either side of my track nicely and I can see quite easily where I'm going. At about 12cm long (4 1/2 inches) by 3cm round (1 1/4 inches), it's small enough you can carry round, it has a detachable battery and a micro usb port for recharging. If you're looking for a good bright light without paying completely silly money, I highly recommend this one. I'm thinking of getting another and throwing my older light away this one's so good.

Great light but screws with garmins
So i was going to work one day on my bike and decided to go a new route, i found out part of new route was unlit and my tiny 200 lumen light was shockingly rubbish for seeing where i was goin lol, after some research i decided on buying this light and i love it i tend to keep it on hyper constant (200 lumen with 800 lumen flash) for city riding and ive noticed that cars notice me more so thats always good and as for those unlit areas now i can see where im going thanks to a quick double tap of the button switching the light to the full 800lumen beam its great.Only reason for 4 star is that it seems to interfere with my garmin 520 while in hyper constant mode, strava segments dont seem to record properly on it while its on and the speed seems to be a little up and down for some reason, other than that its a great little light.

Makes sure you see and are seen.
After reading the reviews for this light i took the plunge and coughed up what i think is a lot of cash for a bike light! Most days I cycle on A roads and country lanes in all conditions and light levels so being visible to other road users is critical (especially along country lanes). I have to say i was surprised by how bright this light is, given the compact size. It is very bright and the flashing mode seems to be very visible to car drivers even during a bright day. Paired up with a Bontrager Flare R at the back and I feel much safer than with my previous lights and I have noticed other road users give me much more room when they overtake. The build quality is good and it feels very tough and sturdy in the hand. Charging via USB is simple and straight forward as is using the various modes. Fitting is simple and it clips on and off its bracket easily when you want to lock your bike in a public space. After a month of use it has remained waterproof but i have not been in any serious rain, just a few showers. So far I would say buy it, despite the price tag.
