Modern Architecture: The Structures that Shaped the Modern World

Be warned
An interesting overview but I have three warnings about this book:1) Its too small. Check the size, its a pocket book, not a coffee table tome. The photographs are excellent as you'd expect, but the size doesn't do them justice. To access the book you need to break the spine in several places..2) The font is faint, small and hard to read.3) Glancy is the Guardians architecture correspondent. This means he just can't help himself when it comes to slagging off anything British whilst praising to the rooftops anything European and modern. The style will be familier to anyone who browses the newspaper or its online forums. The book would be far better if he'd reigned in his opinions. On balance, for the money, its a handy introduction...just be warned!

As above and there are no larger formats as an alternative.

At least the pictures are nice
Great selection of buildings, but as another reviewer has already said, the problem is with the text. It’s very, very small, and it’s pale grey on white. It’s pretty much unreadable without a magnifying glass and a very bright light.
