It gets hot quickly in the #5 setting. This item is outstanding at the price. I’ve totally enjoyed making various dishes. Just be sure to know which items should go in first for the longest cooking times & that add your remaining items with their appropriate suggestions in your recipe..

I bought the 13" Ovente Electric Wok because my traditional steel Wok was just too hard to properly toss and flip on the stove after my heart attack. I am thrilled with this new Electric Wok. It's very well made. The detachable electric heating control works flawlessly, with a wide range of even heat. It can get plenty hot enough to grill meat, or down to a controlled simmer. My healthy stir-fry comes out perfect every time. The non-stick coating is good--I always use a spritz of Pam just to be sure, Lol. Always use plastic or silicone spatulas. Detaching the control makes it easy to clean the lightweight, thick-aluminum pan at the sink. Other users have complained about this Wok not being very deep. They must be referring to the 12" model, because the 13" one is huge--Very nearly as large and deep as my traditional 14" Steel Wok. And the glass lid is enormous! The 13" Ovente Electric Skillet/Wok is perfect for delicious, healthy family meals, at a Remarkably Low Price! UPDATE: I ordered a 12" model based on how much I liked the 13" one. The two skillets share the same heating element and materials, but the 12" model is NOT AS GOOD. If you look at the bad reviews, you'll see they are for the 12" model. The pan is shallower, and I really miss the Curved Wok shape. The 13" is FUN, the 12" is AWFUL. Buy and Enjoy the Ovente 13" Skillet/Wok. Skip the 12".

First problem was getting the power cord to connect, it took effort to get it to seat long enough to cook and it was so lose that if you jiggled it a little it disconnects, at least up until last night when it stopped heating completely. The unit was delivered on Delivered March 20, I threw it away last night. The warranty ended last night too.

For a " Full Time" camper/RV, it's probably the best investment. I'm really liking my purchase. If I don't need the stovetop, save on LP, and want to cook outside, this is my "go to".

I received my electric skillet today and was excited. My stove stopped working and I needed something to help me get by until the stove in my apartment is repaired.--The first thing I found when I tried to put the lid together was that the plastic part shattered. I have weak hands and normally have no issues with things breaking. I reached out to customer service so I hope they replace that part, but even if they don't I can order a new lid. the one I have works, but the handle is very wobbly because it is missing the plastic insert now. I saw that someone else had a similar experience with the lid. I was going to blame it on the cold weather, but that person had it break in July so it might just be the plastic piece is not strongly made so be careful when you screw the handle onto the lid.--When I tried to plug in the cord, the heating element prongs were off-kilter so I had to work with it a bit before it finally slipped into place. I was starting to have doubts but it cooked the food well enough. I will test other things in it but it cooks evenly and will be a great help.

The media could not be loaded. This is NOT the skillet you grew up with! It’s light and cheaply made and more of a shallow hot pot. It’s either rapid boil or off even when on. I got this for camping so I could make a meal, leave it, go do fun stuff and come back to a cooked meal for everyone. Don’t!! The rapid boil juice bursts everywhere out of the lid on setting temp 1. It gets a 3 because it browned the chuck really well. I am keeping it because it’s a shallow electric frying pan. Temp setting is nutz and spent ages trying to set it. Fry or rapid boil thats it. Do not leave this skillet unattended.

Have only used this twice but it's enough to know it's a good value, was surprised by the light weight, was expecting it to be much heavier, easy to use and easy to clean.

After a while the pan became deformed; it’s not plain and even then the thermostat at reaching 5 then turn it low to 1, the control arrow did not light up so this became a defective product. A replacement was made by March and I never asked for a refund. Suddenly, the system just cancelled my replacement then refunded me the amount! This is so mean and irresponsible! Very inappropriate and rude! Even the leadership was so mean and irresponsible. They don’t deserve to be in the position of a supervisor. She cut me off the call. Emma F. This matter must be investigated thoroughly and I want swift action. Any reparation to be undertaken by Amazon.com will be welcomed and appreciated; to make up for the mess up. This was an irresponsible act. Again, I recapitulate, I have never been so thus treated in my entire life. Get your act together and go what is best. I have invested my time and money to you.
