Thick and heavy brass material. Based on the weight, it seems like it's actually solid brass parts throughout, which is nice. Works well on a desk or other location dedicated for smoking, etc.The bearings used to allow the rocket to spin work flawlessly. It spins freely and fluidly, with no noticeable noise.The lighter insert work well, but instead of a hinge cap, it is screwed on. For that reason, it is a little more difficult to use regularly. A hinged top makes more sense in my opinion. The lighter insert is also not very large in circumference or height, so it doesn't exactly hold a lot of fuel, so you may have to refill somewhat regularly.Overall still quite nice and would work well as a gift for the right person.

I love this vintage brass lighter. It's really pretty and works well. I leave it on my coffee table as part of my decor and it's definitely a conversation starter. Everyone picks it up right away and are impressed when they find out it's a lighter. I got it as a decor piece because I rarely need a lighter for anything. It's easy to fill with kerosene -does not come with lighter, and light away.

UPDATE: Received proper instructions from the seller for refueling. Easy enough that I now have a fully functioning Rocket. I loved this from the get go, but cringed it may only be a paperweight. NOT so....this is truly easy to operate, refuel, display and enjoy. Now I'm a happy 'rocket launcher' LOL.Was really forward to getting this but I'm more confused than ever. It is one of the most attractive lighters I've ever seen, solid brass, has a spinning base like a rocket ready for launch and pretty weighty. However, the itty bitty wick will last only a short time as it is very tiny and no replacement included. And, I'm guessing you soak the wick insert with the required fuel as there is really no canister per se to fill. Per the item description it uses kerosene (OK, I've never seen kerosene sold in small quantities) and this unit may only hold 1/2 tsp. No instructions were included so in my opinion, once the wick is exhausted, this would be useless as a lighter, unless I'm missing something. It would still be attractive enough for a paperweight but I really was expecting more than a paperweight for the price of $26.

I feel like I know my lighters and the lack of directions with this one has me a bit leery. It’s visually really cool and almost imposing - it’s a big ole hunk of space shaped brass. That is for sure! I’m prettty sure that as soon as I figure out how to fire this thing up, I’m going to absolutely love it and demand that all my guests use it, even if only to try it! Fun! A+++

It came fully assembled although instruction manual has part blow-out diagram. I only inserted lighter core and added fuel. Lighter core flint is replaceable. The core insert itself is also replaceable. Wick doesn't burn out and fuel cotton fully absorbs lighter fluid. The fuel volume is not big, but flame is not big as well, so burn rate is quite small and you don't need to re-fuel it very often. I had no problems to start the flame. Torch is attached to the round base platform via small ball bearing and you can spin it around the flame axes without disturbing the flame itself. It is also very convenient to unscrew / screw the cap as you can turn the lighter around the base instead of of turning cap. Cap seals lighter core compartment very tight. I don't feel any smell of lighter fuel when the cap is tightened. Overall this lighter is great addition to my office table and will definitely impress my clients with its sophistication, functionality and details.

Great for at home use. Probably too big for mobile use. Operates like a Zippo lighter. Recommended.

Heavy Duty and works as intended. I got it to be a display piece and it serves that purpose quite well for me.
