Hidden History of Portland, Oregon

The Fascinating Histories Within History
This book is about the "people's history" of Portland, Oregon--a telling of the too-long overlooked, forgotten, or untold tales of the people who fought and loved and failed and thrived and lived and died in the wild early days of this wild town. It is indeed a people's history, made more rich by Chandler's own insights and reflections. In places Chandler gets too bogged down by statistics or drier facts that slow the pace, but overall, I recommend it in addition to Chandler's Murder and Mayhem in Portland, Oregon.

Well worth reading
History well done. It is mostly about the various ethnic groups in town, and their relations. Not a pleasant read for some, but good things to know about my home town.

No theme or anything to tie facts together
It didn’t seem to have a theme or anything that would make you care about the facts presented. I had a hard time getting through it
