9 Volt Metal Detector 6-inch Wand Scanner with Audio Alarm and LED Visual Alert and Storage Case

This Metal Detector was shipped quickly and it is working great. I build projects made with pallets and reclaimed wood and this saves me a lot of time locating nails and staples in this wood. I feel safer knowing I have removed metal objects from my wood before I cut or plane the wood.

Very good detector. Used it on several occasions and it found small nails in reclaimed lumber and didn't give false alarms.

Used for cleaning up recycled pallet lumber.Finds nails and whole Staples very well near surface however it missed or at least showed an intermittent detection of a small piece of staple (steel wire?). I ignored the location because it was off and on and I saw nothing (bad move). I will say the piece was small enough that my planners knives were not damaged. I would recommend the unit considering the price but use with care and explore any intermittent locations.

Saw a few reviews about using this for wood working, so bought it to check re-claimed lumber. It would tone on a rolled up rubber yoga mat sitting on my work bench. I got the rubber on the handle rolled back and turned the sensitivity down several times - still gave a false tone. If I hit the 50% sensitivity button, it made it tone until you turned it off. Returned it.
