Brilliant game
Really enjoyed this … keeps your interest and the whole package is very good quality. If you want a game with a difference you can’t go wrong with this one

Fantastic Sherlock
I rate it low on easy to learn only because it has so many leads and noted characters, this is not a bad thing by any means! It’s hard to learn because if feel it is not meant to be easy, I found the contents to be more than efficient and the investigations has so much to offer and is well constructed. It has brought much distraction to an other wise terrible time. Thank you!

Good but it takes time
This is a really in depth game. Which brings both good and bad points. If you haven’t played this game before (which we hadn’t) use the first case as a practice run. Think about all possible outcomes of various things. You will need paper and pencils or even better a laptop because clues can come in for things that seem insignificant at the time but can be a major thing later on. I would recommend this game but give yourself a good few hours to play through

Elementary!
Played the first case with my brother. We did rather well scoring 65. A really fun and immersive game. Definitely one for a family Christmas!!

Awful game
Very badly written and full of anachronisms. If you are a fan of Holmes and understand late 19th century etiquette and social history, it is truly toe-curling. The game play is also extremely confusing and non- intuitive. You really need to play at a table, rather than sitting on a sofa, and I got bored and fed up after reading the first passage of "story" on the first case. I really regret we didn't open it sooner because I would have returned it at once if we had.

Fun
This game is really fun and intellectually stimulating. Takes a long time to get through it and learn the rules but, once you figure it out, it's great to play with friends!

Great concept poorly executed
I absolutely love the concept behind these cases and, on the whole, really enjoyed working my way through them. However for the amount of money paid, and the overall quality of the product, I would have expected much more attention to detail in the execution. In places, some of the written content reads almost like it has been poorly translated into English and there are multiple typos. Even more problematic, in one of the cases there is a clue that is critical to the solution but that clue is impossible to actually navigate too. A real shame as these issues definitely spoil the overall enjoyment.

You will have to be a mind reader as well as a detective in this one
Another edition to the fabulous Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective games. Just like the previous two before this, Space Cowboys continue to have an excellent production with these games: 2 Carlton House maps, a Queens Park Map, plus the usual London Map, Directory etc. The newspapers in this game aren't double-sided like in the previous games, which some people might find disappointing, but we didn't mind as we often felt a bit overloaded with the number of articles we had to read before (most of which would not be relevant to the case anyway). If you haven't played these games before, go and read reviews on the Thames Murder cases, which is the first of three and will give you a better idea of exactly what these games are about. In this one, you can really tell that they were trying to step up the difficulty and ambition in producing these mysteries, which I hugely appreciated. Sadly, they clearly didn't put any time or effort into their English translation. There are many sentences that don't make sense, words spelt incorrectly, and with some cases even the spelling of suspect names change from paragraph to paragraph, leaving you unsure if they are referring to the same person or different person and completely taking you out of the experience of playing the game. Also, although the game states that the first 5 cases take place at Carlton House (and they do use the maps for Carlton House), in each one Carlton House is actually referred to by a different name e.g. Belgrade House etc. Fine, I understand that thematically it would be odd for lots of murders to happen at the same building, but you cannot tell the players that the first five cases will be set in Carlton House only to then have each case tell you that it happened somewhere different. We managed to work out that Belgrade House etc just meant Carlton House, but a lot of people are going to be seriously confused by this and looking for the address to places that don't exist. Also, the second case isn't set at the house at all, so there's that. For the most part you can work through these errors, but it really wouldn't have taken much work for them to sort out a few simple translations issues. Indeed, the whole Carlton House/other-named house that uses the same map and address as Carlton House may just be a result of said translation issue, as opposed to a conscious decision on their part. It really is a shame, as the mysteries themselves are very good and the first two games, despite the odd small mistake, were on the whole translated very well. We still enjoyed playing this game, but for a £30+ game its pretty unforgivable that they have released this with as many errors as it has.

We bought Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective – Carlton House & Queen’s Park to play as a couple, and it’s been an absolute gem. The mysteries are rich and clever, and the investigative format keeps both of us engaged from start to finish. If you enjoy deep deduction, newspaper clippings, and logical problem solving together, this is a must-try. Every case feels like a mini adventure, and we loved debating theories side by side. Highly recommended!

Love being able to sit down with my girlfriend and sister to solve a good ole fashion mystery. The game is easy to learn and fun to play. It'll have you wanting to buy the whole set.

So seems like a good game, but we only got through 1/4 of the first case due to the amount of words (a lot of bit fancy words too!) So we ended up gifting the game onto some more booksy people and they loved it!
