Dark Rock Pro 4 - i7-13700k
Long Format Review --- I recently rebuilt my PC with a new CPU, motherboard, RAM, and GPU to be up to date with the latest in high-end gaming hardware but on a budget. New Spec --- Intel i7-13700k 16c/24l 5.2Ghz MSI MPG Z790 Carbon WiFi Corsair 32GB (2x16) DDR5 6000MHz Zotac 3080ti 12Gb Reason For Buying --- The CPU I had was a LGA1151 socket and the new is LGA1700. My friend had previously upgraded from a LGA1151 CPU to a LGA1700 i5 CPU and used the exact same AIO water cooler I had been using in my old build - A Corsair H100i V2 dual rad claiming it fit perfectly with no issues. So I went ahead and didn't upgrade my cooler thinking it should work. Unfortunately, whilst the positioning of the plates all lined up, the CPU was less than 1mm from the coldplate when tightened down. This meant that whilst the CPU would be cooled a bit and the coolant would register as getting hot, it was very inefficient as to cool correctly you need a tight clamping force from CPU to coldplate. It would hit 100c 5 seconds after logging in doing nothing. I went looking for an adequate cooler for my CPU and I remembered I used to run an AMD 8350 8 core build with a 'Be Quiet!' Shadow Rock 2 cooler and I loved it for two main reasons. It looked amazing, and it cooled amazing. Despite being a hot chip. So I went looking for Be Quiet!'s best in tower coolers and came across this and decided to make a purchase despite figuring a AIO would be a better option. However, this was an unexpected purchase as I didn't think I'd need to buy a new cooler so I didn't want to drop £150+ on a decent new Corsair cooler. Experience --- In short, I love this cooler so far and I nearly forgot how much greater huge air coolers look as part of a beautiful gaming PC with RGB lighting. Be Quiet! has an outstanding design department and their relationship to their engineers is strong. The two included Silent Wings fans are in my experienced opinion the best fans on the market. They're not cheap compared to other options but they are ridiculously quiet and efficient; good looking too. I might perhaps spring for the RGB ones down the line. The rest of my fans are Corsair RGB LL fans. Instructions --- Included in the box was an installation instruction printed in separate language booklets that fold out to make reading a bit easier as the paper isn't huge due to all the languages. The instructions are clear and simple, however some of the images could be a little clearer as some of them are a bit hard to see component orientation but nothing that stopped me assembling without issues. I am so greatful that Be Quiet! Includes a full sized, branded philips head screwdriver to install the two clamping screws as today not many brands will include tooling let alone a moulded long screwdriver w/ magnetic tip. Cinebench --- At the moment here in the UK (Sept 9th) we're experiencing the hottest September on record so testing this cooler with way higher than normal ambient temperatured isn't ideal, but I was still able to get some Cinebench scores with my setup. --- Multi-core: 25356 - -+0v VID offset. Multi-core: 25981 - -0.1v VID offset. Single-core: 2028 - 0.1v VID offset. In summary, I'm glad I ended up with this CPU cooler and I'm happy with my purchase. Installation was a breeze with no compatibility/interference issues nor issues with instructions. I'm certain I'll get better Cinebench results when the ambient goes back down to about the normal 12c-18c for Sept/Oct so I'll keep testing and update this review at later date including any updates with the cooler itself. I definitely recommend this cooler.

Amazing performance
This cooler shocked me as to how good it actually is. I was in the market for a beefy air cooler simply because to me it is visually appealing, and this is by far the most appealing air cooler to the eye. The noise levels are outstanding. As my ambient temperatures are quite high and my case has terrible airflow I have the cooler set to 70% and it is still quieter than my case fans running at much less than that. It is so quite I was concerned it wasn't working. It really lives up to the name and I will be investing in some silent wing fans for my case fans. I have also managed to push another 100mhz to my already generous overclock, and the CPU is running cooler, both in idle and full synthetic load than the overclock I had before and I have headroom to push it further In terms of ease of install it was relatively easy. I mounted it with the motherboard still in the case. I did have to remove my GPU to install the 135mm fan though. It's not the easiest cooler to install, but it isn't hard either. The screwdriver that came with the cooler made the job very easy and is a very useful addition to the cooler as I do have use for a long phillips head screwdriver. The mounting system is the only real fault I would give the cooler. The mount works perfectly fine, but I would have preferred some sort of system that aligned the cooler perfectly as I was worried about it moving around causing issues in my thermal application, a nub in the bracket running though the middle to align perfectly would have been great. Though, I did myself no favours mounting it in the case. All in all, amazing cooler. Would 100% recommend

Great Air Cooler - Easy to install if you do it right.
Performance of this cooler is excellent and the Equal of my Noctua, it's very very quiet and keeps my 2700X below 62C at max load allowing precision boost 2 to work really well as it's mostly pointless to OC Ryzen, but it is worth giving it good cooling. The system was a Ryzen 2700X, ASUS Prime X470-Pro Motherboard and patriot Viper V4 3200 ram 42.6 mm high in a Phanteks Ethnoo Pro -M special edition MID tower case. This cooler fits the above system with plenty of room and probably only protrudes about 1.5 cm taller than an RTX2070 card. It cleared the ram with the front cooler fan remaining in the stock position as supplied. I thought it was a very easy air cooler to install, but there are a few points where a little care and planning makes installation easier and better. This is for a Ryzen 2700X AM4 socket system. First lay the case on it's side, motherboard pointing up. 1. When fitting the brackets, so them 1 bracket at a time, in this way you don't need to access the CPU backplate. 2. Do NOT use the supplied washers, they are for AM3 Sockets and will raise the mounting about 0.6mm too high to get good contact with AM4 chips 3. There is only just enough thermal paste for 1 application, use it all 4. Plug in the fan 2-1 cable before installing the cooler. 5. Use a torch and be really careful to get the cooler onto the processor accurately 6. Angle the screwdriver out once you put it through the hole to make it easy to place hold down screw on magnetic end, then use a torch 7. When fitting the fan brackets, to clip them over the heatsink fins, push on the 90 elbow where they attach to the fan, do the same for removal, this way they come on and off easy and without damage. Pushing on this elbow, moves 8. the spring end forward so it comes out of the holding groove very easily. Don't try and pick them out from the far end as I have seen many youtubers do. 9. Check the middle fan is working before you clip it in place, it's hard to see afterwards. It literally takes 10 minutes to install

When seeking a CPU cooling solution, the balance between performance and aesthetics is paramount. Be quiet! BK022 Dark Rock Pro 4 encapsulates this balance perfectly. Right from the unboxing, the cooler radiates a premium aura. Its sleek black design offers aesthetic charm to any build and boasts superior cooling performance. Equipped with a 250W TDP, 6-pole fan motor, and six heat pipes, it's evident that this cooler is engineered to manage intense thermal demands. Integrating this with the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, a behemoth boasting 16 cores and 32 threads, was transformative. My initial setup with a standard cooler faced troubling issues: frequent blue screens in Windows and CPU temperatures touching an unsettling 90°C. Such conditions threaten both CPU performance and longevity. However, with the Dark Rock Pro 4 in place, these concerns were alleviated. The cooler operates with a whisper-quiet demeanour, upholding the "be quiet!" reputation. More notably, even under the exhaustive load from the 5950X's cores, temperatures remained at a cool 70°C. Given the Ryzen 9's capabilities, this performance is nothing short of outstanding. The installation process of the cooler was user-friendly. The included manual was lucid, and the mounting apparatus aligned perfectly, ensuring a smooth setup. However, an essential point to note is the cooler's size. Before making a purchase, always ensure it fits comfortably within your casing. Its formidable cooling performance comes with a sizable footprint, and compatibility checks with your case are imperative. In conclusion, the be quiet! BK022 Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU Air Cooler is a must-have for enthusiasts aiming to harness the power of high-tier CPUs like the Ryzen 9 5950X. It promises optimal thermal performance, ensuring your CPU operates efficiently and is shielded from overheating risks. This cooler is a premier choice for those emphasizing performance, silence, and peace of mind.

It's big. It's black - but like proper every component, screw and pipe is black, black. It's so quiet. And it's capable. I mean, it's wasted here on a Ryzen 5 3600XT where it can run at 82°C for hours on 4.5GHz, all cores. Just need to make sure you have a huge case and low profile RAM as clearances are tight - I'm using Crucial Balistix Gaming LP.

I was a bit worried this would fit my NZXT H400 case when I took it out of the packaging even tho the size charts were telling me it would. Not only does it fit there is about 2-3mm left from the window (yes it is a tight fit but that was expected considering this is a m-ATX case). I installed it outside of the case like recommended and it went without a hitch. Just make sure you read the instructions and use the proper brackets for your socket and it installs in about 3 mins. Make sure it is compatible with your motherboard by visiting the bequiet website. I have mine on a m-ATX motherboard with standard height RAM and there is more then enough headroom. The build quality is amazing. The look and feel of the thermally conductive paint coat is top notch and really makes this a premium product. Even the packaging is premium quality. Once installed and secured it does not wobble and really feels solidly attached to the motherboard. If instructions are followed and your are dexterous/careful, this installs easily and feels very sturdy. This cooler is insanely quiet, I can't even hear it when putting it full speed in bios. I left the turbo fan profile on and had to look inside my case to make sure it was even turning, it really is that quiet. Performance is insane : I have this cooling my I7-8700 and it idles around 26C. The highest temp I ever saw when gaming was 39C. I know this is overkill for a non-OC able CPU but this is the only Bequiet cooler that fits my motherboard and quite frankly was worth every penny. Plus in the future I could use it on another CPU and the 250W TDP makes it a great investment. Only negative (ish) point would be the price. Let's be clear : there is no better looking air cooler on the market and the performance can match and top any AOIs out there. I always trusted air coolers more then AOIs and for about the same price you get a 10 years+ peace of mind cooling solution for your CPU. No pump fails or radiator leaks non-sense. This is also quieter than AOIs because of the pump noise so unless it does no fit your mb/case, this cooler is a no brainer.
