VISM by NcStar Tactical Rifle Scabbard

I was in a quandary. I wanted to mount a shotgun scabbard on the back of my tactical vest. There are plenty of really good, well made and fairly prices shotgun scabbards out there to choose from.....until your realize that virtually NONE of them will readily accept something like a Rem 870 or a Mossberg 590 sized shotgun if you mount any furniture on it. Example....add a side plate for 12 gauge reloads, a barrel mounted flashlight, a door breaching barrel attachment, etc.....and the scabbard that used to fit well.....no longer fits. Or, if it does fit, you tear the hell out of the inside of the scabbard or need three men, a mule and a small boy to shove the gun in and remove it. I have talked to many of my friends who bought shotgun scabbards only to be disappointed when their shotguns wouldn't fit once any furniture was added.After much thought, I purchased this smaller sized, rifle scabbard....based on the dimensions rather than the product description. When I compared the dimensions to that of the shotgun scabbard, I found it had a few inches more room down towards the end as well a an adjustable barrel length.I found that, not only did it accommodate both my AR carbine with a 30 round mag comfortably....but also my Zustava ZPAP M 70 AK47 and my modified Remington 870 with no problems. Well.....almost no problems.I did find that if you loaded the 870 in a hurry that the serrated edges of the breaching attachment would catch in the inner liner and tear it. Problem solved by putting a piece of painters tape around and over the muzzle before loading it. The tape comes off from friction when you remove the shotgun but keeps the serrations from snagging the nylon going into the scabbard.Four Molle attachments on this scabbard and the quality of stitching and snaps is on par with pretty much every other scabbard I have seen. The 870 is not lose in the scabbard like I was afraid it would be.So....if you are in a dilemma about what to do with your tricked out shotgun and decent, well made scabbard.....this rifle scabbard just may be the answer you have been looking for. It was for me.

I am truly surprised at how great this scabbard holds my 9mm 7.5 inch AR pistol build. The adjustment for barrel length works well. The lower i used accepts glock mags and because this scabbard has a zipper that allows it to accept extended mags, there is no issue keeping the mag in the lower. In addition, there is a secure strap that goes around the grip of the weapon to hold it securely and prevents it from exiting the scabbard. On a final note, the build fit absolutely perfectly when i had fold down sights. After adding a Holosun red dot, it did not fit quite as squarely due to the increased height in the middle. However, it still fits perfectly and both the carry handle and sling work very well in transporting the weapon.

I'm very happy with this product overall. The quality surprised me at the price point, pleasantly. This scabbard is very well made. It fits every long gun I have, including my mid-length AR. The only complaint I have is that you need to remove any handgaurd accessories your rifle might be wearing in order to get a snug fit. I have a flashlight and an angled grip up front. It will fit the rifle decently with this stuff attached and the grip loop will extend long enough to work, but I want the scabbard to cover the trigger. None of this is a big deal for me, as I'm only looking for a less menacing method to open-carry while hiking. Hopefully in a future rendition NcStar gives this scabbard a bigger dimension to accommodate accessories up front. MOLLE is good spec, and the various D-ring locations allow you to place the shoulder strap in the best spot for you. (I've got it set up so I can draw my gun from my back road warrior style :) ) It also comes with four MOLLE loops so you can hang it from your tac vest or rucksack.This is a great scabbard for the money, and will work well for most rifles except your long barrel shotguns and precision bolt guns. Just be ready to pull some accessories off to get a good fit.

I purchased this product because the VooDoo Tactical Shotgun Scabbard that I own was too small for my new Mossberg Shockwave with accessories. I read multiple contradictory reviews and questions regarding whether the Shockwave will fit in this VISM Scabbard. Upon receipt, I can confirm that this scabbard does in fact work for the Shockwave.As information, I have the following accessories mounted on my Shockwave: Crimson Trace weapons light attached to a GG&G mount; Mossberg parkarized heat shield, Laserlyte Center Mass laser and Magpul sling. Even with all this equipment attached to the weapon the Shockwave easily slips into this scabbard. I read a few reviews where the author was stating the trigger group and birds head grip stuck out of the scabbard. I find that difficult to comprehend as the bottom is totally adjustable and can be lengthened to allow for the Shockwave to be completely concealed. Plus, it is plenty wide enough to accommodate a wide variety of accessories.The scabbard is well made and looks exceedingly durable. I like the fact that it has both a carry handle and a shoulder strap. Plus it has the Molle webbing on the outside to allow for the attachment of the Condor Tactical 25 round shotgun shell holder.Overall, I really like this scabbard and highly recommend it for Shockwave owners to allow for easy carrier and access.

Fits an AR Pistol well (10.5" - 300 Blk), has a zip with button strap closure at the bottom (not in the picture) that will allow a regular magazine to extend through the scabbard and be held tight. Great to keep ready to go. The end is able to be adjusted to a different length too. Construction is good, straps are stitched and the arm sling is adjustable. I tightened mine up to have it close on the shoulder. It does not have magazine pockets, but you can add them. Great scabbard for the AR that is much less than other models I've seen at a show for $ 65. Came in plastic wrap, and boxed/packed well. No Issues. Recommended.
