What a huge difference this made...
I am currently in the process of setting up my own business (or trying to) and have absolutely no idea where to start with my business plan. After combing the internet for a hundred different ways to write one, I thought I'd better consult a book with a thorough guide to walk me through, which is when I found 'How to write your first Business Plan' by Boomy Tokan. This book has provided me with a thorough and detailed walk-through guide on what my plan should include, and when I approached the writer for the additional content the book advises me to ask for, I received valuable advice and feedback on specific problems. I'm not telling everyone to floor Boomy with questions, but it was a little extra advice which made such a huge difference to me.Would definitely recommend this book for any first time writers fo their own business plan, or even for someone who needs to make sure they have included everything.

Avoid. Really. AVOID.
Contents: If you value statements like "It important if you want to create a good business to have a good business plan", you may like this book. It wouldn’t be that bad, but the book just does not go deeper than this."In order to have a good business plan, you have to pay attention to all the details" - great. But - this is the book that was supposed to deliver exactly on those "details", wasn’t it? Or at least some of them. Or at least - list them.Every page is like this. The book leaves the impression that someone was testing a generator of empty phrases with some reference to writing a business plan.Print quality: Home printer + office binder. In some pages the cutter went through the text, on others - the font is of different size and so on.

Tells you what you need to know
I'm thinking about writing my first business plan and this told me everything I need to know without bamboozling me. Each section of the business plan in this book is broken down into smaller chunks and lists the things you need to think about a business plan. It is clearly laid out and easy to follow. What marks this book out from its competitors are two things. The first is that it isn't just US centric as it does with the different legal types of UK business as well as US counterparts. The author also offers free spreadsheets to help you complete the financial section of the business plan which I received today via email.

Covers all the bases and more! Reading again..
As I was reading, it really opened my eyes to how straight forward a business plan is and showed me the importance of doing thorough research.I'm going to use it to clean up the plan I wrote. The organisation of the plan outlined in this book will help me understand my own plan better. It really covers all the bases, and I don't have to search elsewhere for an explanation of a topic mentioned, in fact it gives key information about areas that a lot of business websites haven't covered.Last but not least, it took under an hour to read fully which is excellent.

A vital ladder to take you to the top
The author demonstrated proven and tested steps which I find quite helpful in my business plans. I used to think what is needed is more capital to start off. How wrong!

Easy to Implement Business Plan Writing Process
I was given this book as a gift at a good time. I was in the process of making a business plan for a new web business that I am developing and I found the guidance here to be very helpful. This book is extremely readable, practical, doable and most importantly `to the point'. There are longer books written on business plans. I have two. Where this book shines is in giving you just the facts that you need and doing so in an easy to read and easy to implement manner. The book is broken down as all business plan books are. It includes a section of your summary, your marketing plan, your operations plan, etc but, unlike other books, each section provides easy to follow targeted bullet points that highlight the main points of the section and the steps that you need to get accomplished in order to proceed to the next part of the business plan.I found the sections on selecting a name for your business, assessing the competition, setting pricing and on deciding on the legal business structure especially well written and useful. The author also gives very good advice on how to accurately define and understand your niche market. A good deal of this book is devoted to the Marketing plan as the author believes that if this part of the business plan is wrong, the entire business plan is worthless.I have found that the hardest part of a business plan to write is the Executive Summary. These three pages at the beginning of your plan have to be perfect. The author advises that the summary be written last. Once the rest of the business plan is written, the author gives you the template and tools to craft the Executive Summary based on what you have already written.Perhaps one of the highlights of this book is a power point tool that the author has developed. The tool is called the "Power Point Business Plan" or PPBP. This template alone may be worth the extremely reasonable price for this book. In ten power point slides, the author outlines how you can effectively, concisely and compellingly communicate your business plan intentions. The PPBP template is easy to understand, can be completed in two hours, allows you to get started with a business plan right away and gives you an attractive and complete proposal that you can present to potential backers. This book is a true treasure. If you have been struggling with your business plan, this book will help you.

My first book on business plans...
As this is the first book I've read on developing a business plan, I don't have a lot to compare it against. I read this one first due to all the great past reviews it's received. I thought it was easy to read and understand. Gives good advice and is approachable and direct. I read it in a few hours and that included time when I stopped to begin drafts of particular sections going into my plan that I felt compelled to do right at that moment! Since it's so easy to understand and read, I'm sure I will read it a few more times as I'm going through the various exercises while compiling my plan. I feel it was definitely time well spent on understanding this first critical step in starting a business!

Wonderful, Comprehensive Reference For Anyone Considering Starting Their Own Business
If you're serious about starting your own business, then you should give this very comprehensive guide a first and second read. The general business plan template is broken down in such a way as to not make it overwhelming or too complicated. As a beginner with much of this information new to you, you may need to give the book a careful read and take notes along the way. However the language used by the author is simple and straightforward and many examples and diagrams are offered. If I were trying out my own business plan for the first time or consulting with someone else to do so, I would certainly use this guide as a reference. I particularly found helpful the more condensed, power point business plan format which was also offered for those who want the process even more simplified. All in all this book delivers a wealth of information which could turn anyone from a first timer to thoroughly informed in no time.
