I bought this because I missed eating jerky now that I'm vegetarian. From the first bite it was off putting, and had a terrible after taste. My partner kinda likes it though, so worth trying at least once I guess. It's also way too expensive for what you get. There are other brands that use shiitake that tastes better and is cheaper to try.

I was really surprised they got the texture so right with a vegetable or plant base. The flavour was smoky and had a "healthy meat" taste without being oily.I am not a vegetarian or a vegan, but I do try to eat as little animal protein as possible. And once or twice a year I will buy that "horrible for you but tastes so good" convenience-store jerky on a stick.So when I say that this jerky has a "healthy meat" taste, I mean it doesn't have that oily taste that pepperoni and those jerky have, which I always hated.The only problem is you really cannot sit down in front of the TV with the bag, because it's really easy to eat the whole thing in one sitting... I wish there was more in the bag for the money, although I do understand that you have to pay for quality products...
