On a single coat you have about 2-3 hours for it to work and also depending on the size and detailing of your tattoo depends on the potency as well, yes in some spots where your skin is more sensitive your going to feel it but trust me without it that 6 pain feeling is going to smack you in the face harder, I've used it for my inner bicep all the way to my armpit and in the middle I felt it, had tattoos redone with it yea your still going to feel pain/discomfort while it's active and starts to fade away but your endorphins are already kicking in at that time as well, so like I said a single coat lasts maybe 2 hours of pain free tattoo work, never tried to do a double coat but same application just wrap it an hour before and let it dry than once your headed out re wrap it, wish I had this product when I got my ribs done !!!!

I used this before I get a tattoo - I put on a couple hours before and use clear wrap to keep it covered. I was about to sit for 1.5 of line and shading ON MY KNEE, never would have survived without it

This is the first time I’ve ever used a numbing cream for a tattoo. When I decided to do my knee, my tattoo artist mentioned Dr. Numb. I decided to give it a try since I’ve heard the Knees can be extremely painful. 100% the best choice! I put it on in a thick layer (where you could still see the white) and wrapped it in clear kitchen wrap for one hour. I wiped it all off with a wash cloth and warm water before I left home. This was from 11 am - 12 pm. My tattoo started at approximately 12:45 - 1 pm and lasted until approximately 3 pm. I only started to feel it near the end and only in small spots, so the pain was totally bearable. The next time, I’ll probably keep the cream on until I get to the tattoo shop to see if that helps it last even longer. If I had not used Dr. Numb, I know for sure I would have MAYBE gotten through the outline in one sitting, but definitely not the entire piece. I will definitely continue to use Dr. Numb for tattoos in very sensitive spots! Totally worth it!
