This product seems very well sourced and made. However, although I would like to keep using - but after re-hydrating the product my (older) cat had a VERY difficult time swallowing the small, SHARP, bone pieces in the formula. For using the rest of the bag, I immersion blended the dry product, and then pressed through a screen collander (very time consuming), to separate out the tiny shards of bone. A young, very healthy cat should not have a problem with this product. Update May 24, 2025: Since April 2025 when I wrote my original review, I have purchased this 3 more times and am screening out anything that cannot go through a feeder syringe. A wonderful product and my cat enjoys it (shown by how he grabs at my hand to feed it to him). Update: Thank you! for your offer of a full refund, but NO, I do not want a refund. You have created a wonderful product, and I'm asking you to not change a thing. I wrote my feedback to be positive and honest information only, not to cause you any harm.

After hearing my friend tout its health and nutritional benefits, I was optimistic about introducing my one-and-a-half-year-old Selkirk Rex to Feline Natural's Grain-Free Freeze-Dried Cat Food, Chicken & Lamb. Despite its promise of a wholesome diet, it turns out that my little furball is not a fan. Even when I tried mixing it with her favorite canned food, she was hesitant to eat it, which was quite disappointing given the product's premium price. While the quality of the ingredients is undeniable, and I appreciate the brand's commitment to natural, grain-free nutrition, it's clear that not all cats will take to it. It might be a hit with other cats who aren't as particular about their food so I wouldn't write it off completely. If you have a cat open to trying new things and you're looking for a high-quality, nutritious option, Feline Natural could be a great choice. It might not suit all palates, especially if your cat is as selective as mine.

I understand that removing water in freeze drying means that water must be added back. I do not permit my cats to eat this dry even though supposedly it says that I could. The food would require water from someplace to become useful and therefore it could be expected that physical pellet expansion would happen on the stomach. As a careful feeder I let this expansion occur before the eating. Dry kibble needs water in much the same way it seems, but the process making that is heat which alters the structure. The meat is meal and bits of many other things. What makes this different is that the mixture is made of whole body parts and just a few things added. I followed the instructions of ratio for preparing. One cup of this freeze dried food mixed with one cup warm water. It is quizzical then that it would not be fully absorbed the way I expect. Chi la of food difficult to chew that I have to squeeze with my fingers. So the thought occurred to me that I could use a process of measuring, waiting and blending. I thought that surely it would thicken as a puree in blended form in fifteen minutes. First, my cats are puree eaters. They love puree. The one-to-one ratio does not puree. It liquifies in the blender. When I go through the process and pour this liquid in serving cups, they eat it like they have never eaten anything before. All that moisture being lapped up with their tongues, and all that food with it. Just so anyone here can know, that these cats drink it and they finish their portions with commitment within minutes. Then they do not ask me for any more food for an entire 24 hours. They are calm. Sated. They sit next to me and they are not begging. They sleep. They are really taking to this liquid, but they have dry food on free choice they nibble on. I feel like this liquid form might be good for their digestion and hydration. I am in the first few days of this strategy. It relaxes me to have calm cats. If I add less water, I would worry about their teeth chewing on raw bits. With liquid they do not have that issue. I also add dental health additive to the food water so I know they have it. My cats hopefully will continue benefiting. I did not see anyone writing another review about the liquid result from blending the recommended proportions. I do not know if a full to.e liquid diet is good or bad. That is why the thickness is "3" but they take it in enthusiastically.

They're alright. But I wouldn't buy these for an automatic feeder because they get would get stuck in the hopper.
