Q: Is this flexible like rubber or rigid like plastic?

These buckets a flexible but not flimsy. THey are made of a rubber similar to tires. They have a nice, flat, scrubable service. They are not textured.

Q: I'd like to use one to plant vegetables in. Are there chemicals in the rubber the can leach into the soil?

I wouldn't worry about the chemicals leaching. These pails would be a great planter

Q: Do these buckets have lead in them?

No lead. It is the best bucket. We used it on our boat and it was far superior to any other bucket.

Tuff 3 Gallon Pail

The quality build of this pail exceeds any I've ever owned. Handle is reinforced from below. Nice chore bucket and easy to clean. This rugged pail needs time to off-gas before use otherwise it stinks of petrochemicals.

Best Boat bucket

I bought this bucket for the boat because it is rubber and won't scratch or dent anything. If you kick it by accident it won't break a toe. If you want to cool off you can tie a 1/4 line to it and fetch a pail of water. My primary reason for having a good buket on board is for bailing out water in case of, well I don't know why I might need to bail but it seems like a good idea. The best thing I have started doing with it is to put the steel anchor in it for storage. This bucket is very strong and stable and MADE OF RUBBER! Get one or two for your boat.
