The Republic of Tea — Republic Pink Chai Herbal Tea Tin, 36 Tea Bags, Naturally Caffeine Free

I like to mix a spicy tea with my decaf green tea and other herbal teas, and another big brand stopped making a spicy-plum herbal tea I had been using. This particular brand had all the spices I was looking for, such as cinnamon, and cardamon and cloves. The tea smelled amazing out of the box. And it blended very well with the decaf green tea and black cherry herbal tea I combined it with. I was surprised how well the rose petals, vanilla and anise added to the complex finish of my crafted blend of the various tea bags. All around a top-shelf chai tea with an excellent after taste. I will be purchasing a lot of this tea from now on.

When I originally purchased this Pink Chai, it arrived in less than stellar condition. The contents of the sachets spilled out of the bags & within the tin itself. Many of the bags appeared to have been mangled in manufacturing and they were not sealed properly. The tin was overly dusty with a pink powdery substance. (I usually see some dusty contents in other flavors—just a product of fine bits of tea). I reached out to Republic of Tea to see if I could get a refund or have them send me a new batch. They were amazing! Republic of Tea stands behind their product and supports their customers as best they can—they were willing to work with what I wanted as a result of this issue. I am pleased to report I received a new batch without issue of contents within the tin. This take on chai is a much lighter version of traditional chai as it’s is a nice herbal, no caffeine tea and its color is pretty too. The flavor is subtle, but it’s there and I appreciate that it’s herbal.

The flavor of this tea is exactly what I hoped it would be. You have the delicate flavor of rose with rose hips--even though rose hips are not listed in the ingredients there is a light lemony flavor which makes you think of rose hips next to the rose flavor-light cinnamon and light star anise. I could just make out the vanilla, it adds a smoothness. I could smell the cardamon and could barely taste it if I concentrated hard, lol. I wouldn't call it a chai, maybe chai-ish, maybe a spring chai instead of a hearty winter chai. I love that no flavor is too pronounced, I was afraid of it being cinnamon or star anise focused and it's not. Neither is it too lemony, I don't like lemon-forward teas. A new favorite.

Smooth with a slight hint of rose.

Well I got it for the novelty. I stepped 2 bags in about 10 oz of water for 7 minutes minimum. This tea needs to steep a while, and the water gets...less hot. I added a splash of half and half, and a Splenda packet. It was ok. Very heavy on the clove flavor, so if you're not a fan I'd pass. But it looks gorgeous if steeped long enough, with a splash of cream. Looks like strawberry milk.

Just a touch but too much rose flavor for my personal taste, but that's just me!

Unique and delicious

This chai is alright, but a bit lacking in flavor. I prefer a much stronger tea than this, and even using multiple bags doesn't make the flavor stronger. The flavor that is present is very nice though. This would be a great option for people who want a chai tea that isn't too strong.
