Lovely product, but need to clean unit & pump THOROUGHLY, & regularly. Details below.
I have one cat who needed to drink more water, and since she loved the sink faucet, I hoped this would help her. Eventually it did, as it took a while for her to take to it. I have a second cat, and a small dog who all learned to drink from the fountain within a week. There are 3 modes, you can use the fountain, or the simple cap that makes it bubble up, or remove that cap and the water flow is even more gentle. What I just learned recently after 5 months of not checking, is that you HAVE to clean the pump regularly! There was no visible hair clogging mine, but I finally opened it up today (there are 4 parts, read the manual and take it apart as soon as you buy it so you'll know how to clean it) and it was filled with slimy crud. This can be very dangerous for your pets! I clean my whole unit every few days with white vinegar and water, you can soak all parts, including the pump in that solution for up to 30 minutes, after you've taken it apart and washed it internally. You can also rinse, boil, then air dry the filter every few days to disinfect it so you don't have to replace filters all the time. I finally replaced my first filter after 5 months. If you clean the fountain, filter and pump thoroughly and regularly your pets will benefit from filtered water. If you don't, you are feeding them a bacteria bath. See important final note at bottom. When the fountain starts to get loud, just add more water. I do this daily.Lastly, and important, my pump wouldn't work today after I cleaned it. I checked the manual and discovered there is a 4th part to the pump (I originally thought 3, and just edited my review). The tiny white plastic spinning wheel is the 4th part, and it comes out. It's magnetized, so you have to pull. Mine was filled with nasty crud that I didn't catch the first time I cleaned the pump because I forgot the white wheel comes out too. Use a q-tip to get into the tiny magnetized tunnel where the wheel spins. Be thorough, because lurking bacteria is not what you want your pets to drink!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This is an awesome fountain! We’ve had two plastic ones in the past. One leaked and the other seemed difficult to keep clean. I finally gave up and. To just a bowl of water, but, I noticed my cats were not urinating very much. So I did some research on Amazon and settled on this one. It looks like a decorative fountain you would buy to decorate your home. It is very sturdy, works perfectly and is amazing easy to clean. Best of all, ony cat love it and are frequently seeninking from it. There was no acclimation process for them, they started drinking from it immediately. I would not hesitate to recommend it or purchase it again.

My Cat Likes It (Just Make Sure You Clean It!)
I recently adopted an adult cat from the spca. Everything was good until she started to smack her water bowl with her paw…I quickly realized that its her way of telling me “hey, I need more water.” So I thought maybe I should get her a bigger bowl, one that would hold more water.Well before I did that, a coworker suggested that I try using a pet fountain. That night, I went to petco to see what they look like. I was going to get one then and there but the prices seemed a little high. I’m glad I walked away without buying anything because the prices are much better on amazon. They have a lot more variety too…I eventually made my decision to get this after reading some of the reviews. It arrived quickly within two days. I opened it right away and gave it a good wash. My cat definitely seemed interested in what I was doing (she’s the kind of cat that actually likes water). After it was clean, I set it up. It’s pretty straightforward…there are two lids and two spouts. Put everything in place and plug it in. It took me less than 5 minutes.PROS:Quiet- The pet fountain is very quiet. You can hear it if you’re at a close distance (mostly the gurgling of water) but it’s not loud enough so that it’ll bother you if you’re in the same room. Here’s a tip…use the flower spout if you’re sensitive to the noise, I find it to be a lot quieter.Size- The bowl is large enough to hold approx. two liters of water. What can I say, it’s more than what my cat needs but at least now she won’t have to hit it with her paw for a refill. I usually change the water every 3-4 days or so. There’s a filter so you know that what they’re drinking is clean.Cleaning- I don’t find it a hassle to clean at all. For one thing there aren’t any nooks or crannies. I use a set of bottle brushes to clean it and they get the job done ( these are the ones I got on Amazon ). Just remember to clean the pump as well. It comes apart so that its pretty easy.Filter- You don’t have to replace the filter all the time. I usually rinse or boil it every two weeks or so to disinfect it. I don’t plan on replacing the filter for another few months.CONS:Water level- I wish there was a plastic window on the side so that you can see how much water is left. It’s not a deal breaker or anything but it would definitely make things more convenient. Right now, I have to check it by lifting the entire lid up.On/off- There’s no physical on-off switch on the fountain. It’ll turn on the second you plug it in…which works but I would prefer having a control for that.Overall, it’s a good purchase for me. My cat seems to like it and that’s all that matters. I’m just her servant, after all.

This is a top product
The device is the best thing with the cats loving it. The only letdown was the unit was supplied with a US transformer which is not comparable with the Australian power system.››
